Yorgos Lanthimos Reflects on New Film
“Bugonia” is a reimagining of the 2003 Korean film “Save the Green Planet!” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. While it contains surreal elements, the director explained that he doesn’t view it as dystopian. “A lot of it is very reflective of the real world,” he said.

Lanthimos last attended the Venice Film Festival in 2023 with “Poor Things,” which won the Golden Lion before earning four Oscars, including best actress for Stone.
Stone Opens Up About Shaving Her Head for Role
(Photo by Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty Images)Ahead of the film’s release, Stone revealed she shaved her head for a pivotal scene in “Bugonia.” To keep the transformation a secret, she wore wigs during other public appearances, including the New York Film Festival.

Stone admitted the dramatic change brought her to tears as it reminded her of when her mother, Krista, lost her hair during breast cancer treatment. “She actually did something brave. I’m just shaving my head,” Stone said. But her mom encouraged her, even joking, “I’m so jealous. I want to shave my head again.”
With her latest transformation, Stone proves she remains fearless both on and off screen!
