Julia Roberts brought a burst of star power to Italy, arriving at the Venice Film Festival on August 27 in a statement-making look. The Oscar winner, 57, turned heads in a playful cardigan emblazoned with images of director Luca Guadagnino, a cheeky nod to the filmmaker behind her upcoming drama, “After the Hunt,” which premieres on August 29.

Roberts let the statement sweater shine, pairing it with canvas sneakers, black shorts, a Celine Medium New Luggage Smile bag, and dark sunglasses.

The look marked a rare and stylish festival debut for the actress, who has kept her red carpet appearances minimal in recent years.

‘After the Hunt’ to Premiere in Venice

Roberts’ latest project, “After the Hunt”, is an Amazon MGM Studios psychological drama also starring Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield. The film follows a college professor (Roberts) facing personal and professional turmoil when a star student (Edebiri) accuses a colleague (Garfield), while secrets from her past threaten to surface.

The Venice premiere will mark Roberts’ first time at the festival, a milestone moment in her career. Earlier this year, she was celebrated at the César Film Awards in Paris and received the honor of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in France.

A Possible ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ Sequel

While fans eagerly await Roberts’ Venice debut, fresh buzz surrounds one of her most beloved roles. According to Collider, Sony is developing a sequel to 1997’s “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” with filmmaker Celine Song attached. The rom-com, in which Roberts played food critic Julianne Potter alongside Dermot Mulroney, remains one of her most iconic performances.

The film told the story of Julianne, a witty and guarded writer who rekindles feelings for her longtime friend Michael (Mulroney) after he announces his engagement. The romantic comedy has endured as a fan favorite, leaving audiences eager for a follow-up nearly three decades later.

A Career of Iconic Roles & Family Milestones

Beyond her professional milestones, Roberts has been savoring personal joys.

Earlier this month, she marked her son Phinnaeus’s 20th birthday with a rare Instagram video, and her husband Danny Moder shared a sweet Mother’s Day tribute featuring their three kids: Phinnaeus, Hazel, and Henry.

From “Pretty Woman” and “Notting Hill” to “Erin Brockovich” and “Runaway Bride,” Roberts’ career has been packed with classics.

Now, with a new dramatic role in “After the Hunt” and the promise of revisiting “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” the actress is once again at the center of Hollywood buzz.
