Jake Reiner is entering a new chapter following an unimaginable year.
The son of late filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner has married Maria Gilfillan, according to TMZ.
Sources with direct knowledge told the outlet that Jake and Maria tied the knot in a small ceremony at the beginning of August. The couple’s wedding comes amid an incredibly difficult period for Jake, whose parents were killed in December 2025.
Jake Was Spotted Wearing a Wedding Ring
Jake was recently seen wearing a wedding band during his first television interview since his parents’ deaths. He spoke with KABC in Los Angeles about losing his parents and the criminal case involving his younger brother, Nick Reiner.
It is unclear how long Jake and Maria were engaged. Jake last shared a photo with Maria on Instagram in October 2025.
The marriage also marks a milestone Jake once feared his parents would never get to witness.
In an emotional Substack essay published in April, Jake reflected on everything he lost when his parents died.
Among the moments he said were taken from him was the opportunity for his parents to attend his wedding and meet future grandchildren.
“I was robbed of so many things that day. My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking. It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me,” he wrote.
“Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time. It’s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare.”
Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found dead at their Brentwood, California, home on Dec. 14, 2025.
Nick, 32, was arrested hours later and has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty.
Jake Recalled the Moment He Found Out His Parents Passed
During his recent KABC interview, Jake recalled receiving the devastating news from his sister, Romy.
“Romy told me our dad was dead, and then she said, ‘I can’t find mom,’” Jake said. “I immediately went into shock.”
Jake also spoke about the complicated grief surrounding his brother’s arrest.
“[Nick]’s in jail. It’s like, I physically lost my parents, and then Nick was arrested, now it’s just me and Romy, and we have to navigate this by ourselves essentially,” he said.
He added that his grief has also manifested as anger over circumstances he could not control.
“For me, it manifests into anger. It manifests into rage, into how unfair this was, how I didn’t get a say in what happened. I didn’t get to stop it from happening. I had no choice in the matter. I just have to accept the reality of it, and to me, that is just one of the most infuriating parts of all of this.”
Jake said he has not spoken with Nick and declined to say whether he wants to in the future.
As Jake begins married life with Maria, the milestone comes with the painful reality that his parents were unable to be there for the day he once imagined sharing with them.
