Josh Duhamel is giving fans a hilarious glimpse into life as a dad of young children. The actor recently shared a video from what was supposed to be his son Shepherd’s first fishing trip, but the outing quickly went off the rails as the frustrated toddler pointed his fishing pole in every direction except the water. Eventually, he tossed it altogether. The relatable parenting moment had fans laughing and sharing stories of their own family adventures gone wrong.
‘A Rough Day of Fishing’
It looks like it may have been a tough time on the lake for Josh Duhamel and his son. In a recent Instagram post, which he captioned, “Another successful day of fishing 🎣,” Duhamel is seen on the lake as he greets his fans.
He starts the video saying, “So, Shepherd had his first day of fishing.” Josh then pans over to his son, who can be seen by the shore holding his fishing pole.
Duhamel then says, “Hey, show them how you fish. Show them how you fish.” Shepherd can be seen with the fishing pole facing the beach, hitting the sand with it as he starts whining.
Duhamel continues, “You’re fishing in the wrong direction, dude.” After another grunt from Shepherd, Josh adds, “Fish are that way (while pointing in the opposite direction of what Shepherd is facing).”
Shepherd turns around, while whining and now hitting the water with the fishing pole. Shepherd is then seen throwing the fishing pole into the water, as he’s clearly had enough. Pan back to Duhamel, who says, “It’s been a rough day of fishing.”
Fans React to Relatable Parenting Moment
Duhamel’s fans were quick to jump in the comments and couldn’t help but relate to this parenting moment.
One person wrote, “Hahahaha every parent feels this in their bones,” and another added, “I remember those days, but the memories are treasure and gold🙏🏻😇,” and a third person wrote, “Yup.. He must be three..lol.”
While many fans related to the parent content, others found the fishing moment more relatable.

New Parents
It looks like it’s been a busy time for Duhamel and his wife, Audra Mari. The couple announced the arrival of their second child together on May 16.
In the Instagram post, they wrote, “Rocca de Leon Duhamel. Our baby girl is here.” The couple also shared several family photos, including ones of the newborn sleeping and another of her older brother, Shepherd, holding her. This had to be before his fishing incident, as he looks much calmer.
Duhamel and Mari were wed in 2022. They previously welcomed Shepherd in January 2024. Duhamel is also the dad to 12-year-old Axl, whom he shares with ex-wife Fergie.
