Patrick Swayze’s younger brother, Sean Swayze, passed away on December 15 in the Los Angeles area at the age of 63, Sean’s son Jesse told TMZ.
The outlet further reported that Sean’s cause of death, per the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, is listed as “an acute upper gastrointestinal bleed and severe metabolic acidosis brought on by cirrhosis of the liver.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, cirrhosis is a result of liver damage over the years, which can be caused by alcohol and drugs.
Sean is survived by his brother, Don Swayze, along with his children—Jesse, Cassie, and Kyle. He is predeceased by his brother, Patrick Swayze, along with his parents, Patsy Swayze and Jesse Wayne Swayze.

In an Instagram post on December 17, Sean’s cousin, Rachel Leon, shared a recent photo while confirming the news of his passing.
“I’m heartbroken to share that my cousin Sean Swayze passed away today. This is a picture he took recently for us to promote the Dirty Dancing crawfish theme. My daughter, a marketing manager, came up with this idea to honor our late cousin, Patrick Swayze. We sent the T-shirts to Sean, who wore them proudly for us. He was always fun and full of life,” the post said. “Just recently, we were talking about him coming down to Texas to spend time with us, and I was really looking forward to it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his brother Don Swayze and his children, Cassie Swayze , Kyle Swayze and Jesse Swayze. We are praying hard for the entire family during this difficult time. Please know that we love you and are always here for you. Sean, I love you so much, and we will miss you dearly.”
Many kind comments were left on the post, paying tribute to Sean.
“He was always a sweet and funny guy he had me laughing many times! He will be missed dearly 😢❤️,” one person wrote.
