Robert Cosby Jr., son of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby, passed away on February 23, with the news breaking two days later. Since then, Cosby has received an outpouring of support from her Bravo family. Now, “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey is opening up about her call to the RHOSLC fan-favorite.
Cynthia Bailey Says She Didn’t Expect Mary Cosby to Answer
GettyBailey took to her “Humble Brag” podcast, which she cohosts with “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Crystal Kung Minkoff, on March 2 to discuss her emotional reaction to Cosby Jr.’s death.
The RHOA star said, “God, it’s so hard to talk about this. I’m still actually processing it. I just found out yesterday, which, when you guys see this, it’ll be like a week old. But I found out pretty much when TMZ broke it. You know, I got a chance to spend some time with Mary during the Ultimate Road Trip, Girls Road Trip. And I remember asking about him.
And I think at that point, he was in jail or just getting out or whatever. You know, she was very optimistic. And, you know, it just, we were all excited for him to, um, to be, to get better, I guess. I don’t even know the right words.”
Regarding the call, she shared, “And again, I was really paralyzed by this news when I got it. And I didn’t really know what to do, what to say. I knew that I couldn’t text, you know. I just felt like I had to pick up the phone and call her. And I did. And to my surprise, she picked right up. And then I was really surprised because I didn’t expect her to pick up.”
Bailey then recalled what she said to Cosby, stating, “And I just want to call you and say, I love you, and I’m here for you. And I’m so sorry for you and your family.”
The RHOSLC Star Has Issued a Statement Following Her Tragic Loss
Prior to Bailey discussing her phone call with Cosby, the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star released a statement following TMZ’s reporting of her son’s passing.
Per the outlet, she said, “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
Previously, Bailey said of Cosby Jr’s passing, “Devastated. My heart goes out to you and your family. I pray he is now resting in peace. May God cover you during this incredibly difficult time. My prayers are with you. We love you, Mary.'”
Additionally, days after his tragic passing, Cosby shared a rare photo featuring the two of them from when he was a child. She captioned it, “I’m going to miss you, bubs.”
Cosby is currently expected to return for season seven of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.”
