Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos’ Son Michael Shares Rare Look at His Work Behind the Scenes of ‘Real Housewives’

With two famous actors for parents, it’s no surprise that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ oldest son, Michael Consuelos, inherited their acting abilities. While he hasn’t taken on many roles, Michael has followed in his parents’ footsteps with a handful of acting credits over the years. He’s perhaps best known for portraying the teenage version of his dad’s character, Hiram Lodge, on “Riverdale.”

However, Michael seems to enjoy working behind the scenes more than being in front of the camera. Fans may be surprised to learn that he has been working at Bravo for several years, quietly building experience in television production.

Recently, he gave his Instagram followers a peek at his work behind the scenes, having just wrapped up production on a beloved “Real Housewives” franchise.

Michael Consuelos Shares Behind-the-Scenes Photo From His Latest Bravo Gig

Fans are learning that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ oldest son, Michael Consuelos, works behind the scenes at Bravo. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, September 8, Michael shared a photo of himself crouching down on one knee as he posed alongside several co-workers in front of a helicopter. According to Michael’s caption, the crew just wrapped filming “The Real Housewives of Potomac” season 11.

“RHOP 11 Hell of a ride. New season airs October 11,” Michael wrote.

In the comment section of his post, Bravo boss Andy Cohen shared clapping hand emojis.

According to People, in 2023, while guest co-hosting “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Cohen shared that Michael had been working behind the scenes at Bravo, specifically the “Real Housewives” franchise as well as “Summer House” and its spinoff “Winter House.”

Michael’s dad, Mark, shared, “The Bravo shows are huge in our house. We started watching [‘The Real Housewives of] Miami’. which is blowing my mind. And you know, Michael is working on all…”

“I know it’s crazy,” Cohen responded. “So Michael Consuelos is now working, and he’s working on — he worked on Jersey Housewives; he worked on this new season of [‘The Real Housewives of] New York [City’]. And I keep texting him being like, ‘Who’s your favorite? Who are you enjoying?’”

Cohen also called seeing Michael working for Bravo “a full circle moment” after having known him since he was a child.

Michael Consuelos ‘Absolutely’ Knew He’d Work in Entertainment

After starring on “Riverdale” for a couple of episodes, Consuelos continued to showcase his acting abilities and starred in the 2022 TV film “Let’s Get Physical.” However, it seems that Michael enjoys the production side of TV and film. Speaking to Smashing Interviews Magazine, he shared that while attending New York University, he studied production and writing, and one of his first jobs was working as a production assistant on “The Goldbergs.”

“That was my first real taste of major production in television, and I’ve gone on to do some other stuff now. I’m writing a lot. I’m writing like crazy,” he said.

Michael said in his interview that he “absolutely” loves working in entertainment, specifically writing screenplays. “I’ve always really enjoyed telling stories and being in stories. I studied production, writing and acting. So in every aspect of my life now, I am helping stories be told, and that is the only thing I could ever see myself doing. It’s what I really enjoy.”

In fact, Michael said that he enjoyed writing horror screenplays because of his admiration for Stephen King. ” I grew up reading a lot of Stephen King. That’s my literary idol. He’s big on descriptions. I would get marked down on my screenplays because I would spend ages describing something you typically just do in three lines. I’d go,’ That’s not enough!’ So I’m actually focusing on novels and stuff. We’ll see if anything comes of it. That’s what I’m working on now.”
