Kim Richards celebrated her 61st birthday on Sept. 19, and her two sisters sent greetings her way.
In a post to Instagram, Kyle Richards shared a series of throwback photos of her sister and captioned the nostalgic slideshow with a birthday message.
“Happy birthday @kimrichards11 Wishing you an abundance of happiness, health, and love. May this year bring you all that you wish for 🙏 🎂🎈🎁❤️ Love you ❤️,” Kyle, 56, captioned photos of their days as child stars as well as more recent family photos.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” sisters have had a tumultuous relationship over the years, but the birthday message offered a glimmer of hope to fans who hope they have repaired their relationship for good.
Kathy Hilton Reposted the Birthday Message to Kim Richards
According to BravoTV.com, on Sept. 20, eldest sister Kathy Hilton, 66, reposted Kyle’s message to her Instagram story, and added, “Happy Birthday, Kim Richards! We love you so much! Wishing you all the love & happiness in the world & your best year ever!”
Several friends from the “Real Housewives” world commented on the post, including Chanel Ayan, who called Kim “the queen,” and RHOBH alum Camille Grammer Meyer, who wished her former co-star a happy birthday.
In a Reddit thread, some commentators felt the birthday message was impersonal and wondered what it meant for the celebrity sisters.
“I really hope Kim also got a personal call. I understand why Kyle feels she has to do this on social media, she would get dragged otherwise…I really hope Kim is okay,” one Reddit user wrote.
Kim Richards Did Not Appear in Photos From Kyle Richards’ Daughter’s Wedding
GettyKim Richards has been living in Florida with a friend after years near her sisters in the Los Angeles area. In the RHOBH season 14 episode “Sutton on Trial at Sea,” Kyle told co-star Dorit Kemsley that Kim was doing well but admitted they didn’t have a close relationship.
“It is nice when we’re all together,” Kyle said. “We’re just not that close, I don’t see her that much, unfortunately.”
During the second part of the RHOBH Season 14 reunion, Kyle and Kathy addressed TMZ’s report that the family had cut ties with Kim following an alleged relapse with alcohol. After reunion host Andy Cohen said he heard that Kim was living in Florida, Kathy confirmed it was true.
“She’s spending time there [in Florida],” Kathy said. “You know, I think she’s doing better.”
“Better than the last time there was stuff in the press,” Kyle chimed in.
But months later, it is unclear where the sisters stand. Kim did not appear to be in any photos from Kyle’s daughter Alexia’s wedding to Jake Zingerman, which took place in Los Angeles in early September.
On Sept. 21, Bravo superfan and podcast host David Yontef addressed Kim’s absence on his “Behind the Velvet Rope” podcast. “I did some investigating and my sources… ain’t good,” Yontef said. “According to my sources, which you always take a source with a grain of salt, right? I don’t believe anything. I think there’s three sides to every story, but pretty reliable source told me that Kim Richards was not even invited[to the wedding].”
Yontef noted that Kim could have been invited and simply chose not to travel across the country for the wedding. “My sources tell me that Kim Richards was not invited to the wedding, and it’s from a pretty reliable source,” he added.
