Leah Remini Had One Nonnegotiable Before Joining RHOBH

Leah Remini is officially entering the world of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” but it turns out she had already made one thing clear before ever holding a diamond.

The actress and longtime reality TV personality was confirmed as part of RHOBH Season 16 earlier this week, marking her return to the genre after years away. But comments Remini made more than a year before joining the Bravo franchise now offer some insight into what needed to happen for her to say yes.

For Remini, reality TV wasn’t necessarily off the table. She simply wasn’t interested in doing it without the people closest to her.

Leah Remini Previously Revealed Her One Condition for a Reality TV Return

In a June 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Remini was asked whether she would consider returning to reality television.

“I would do it again,” Remini said at the time. “I would only do it again with my family, and if they let my family be my family.”

The comment takes on new significance now that Remini has officially signed on for RHOBH.

Remini has plenty of experience letting cameras into her personal life. She and her family previously starred on TLC’s “Leah Remini: It’s All Relative,” which aired for two seasons from 2014 to 2015.

The series featured Remini alongside her daughter, Sofia, her then-husband, Angelo Pagán, and members of her extended family. Remini told the outlet last year that viewers were still asking why the family series hadn’t returned.

“I haven’t pursued it [again] only because my family’s so great that I would hate to look like I’m selling my family,” she explained.

She added that she had projects she wanted to produce involving her family, making it clear that the question wasn’t whether she was willing to share her life again. It was about doing it on terms that felt right to her.

That distinction could become particularly interesting on RHOBH, a franchise where relationships and family dynamics routinely become a major part of the story.

Leah Remini Is Joining RHOBH Season 16

Bravo confirmed Remini’s addition to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Season 16 as filming on the new season gets underway.

The move gives Remini another reality TV credit on an already lengthy résumé. In addition to “It’s All Relative,” she competed on Season 17 of “Dancing With the Stars” in 2013 and later returned to the ballroom as a guest cohost and judge. She also hosted and executive produced the Emmy-winning A&E docuseries “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.”

Remini’s arrival also comes during a period of change for RHOBH. Bravo has yet to announce the complete Season 16 cast, though “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” star Tracy Tutor is also set to make her Housewives debut.

Exactly how much of Remini’s family life will make it onto the new season remains to be seen. Her daughter Sofia is now 22, while Remini and Pagán finalized their divorce in 2025 after more than two decades of marriage.

What is clear is that Remini knew what she wanted from a potential reality TV comeback long before Bravo came calling.

Now that she has officially joined RHOBH, viewers may finally get to see what saying yes on her own terms looks like.
