Margaret Josephs announced that she would not appear on season 15 of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” in March 2026. Now, weeks after, the former Bravo star is opening up about her decision to step away from RHONJ and giving insight into why, with two separate interviews, one being on “Jeff Lewis Live.”
Josephs appeared on the “Yacht Mess” podcast in early April 2026. While on, the host noted that it was her decision to leave the show before asking what went into her exit.
Josephs replied, “You know, I’m very calm. I’m at peace. This has been a long time coming.” After that, she noted the show’s extended pauses, saying she “did a lot of soul searching, a lot of thinking about it.”
She went on, “And it’s the best decision for me. I’m a girl who doesn’t leave when the lights go on at a party. I leave when the lights are still off,” stating that she wanted to “leave on a high.”

GettyThe former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star continued, saying she’s “at peace with her choice to leave the show. Regarding her costars, “I always say, I love my cast, good and bad, we’re an amazing team. But the team was kind of falling apart.”
From there, Josephs admitted that she “wasn’t having a good time anymore.” Later, the host noted that he was excited to see her return to “RHONJ” in the future, with a “hero edit.” This then led her to briefly discuss her upcoming project, saying that it may air before the new season of RHONJ.
According to her, “When I did that video [her exit], I was on another project already with some amazing people- that is a little more my speed. I think I’ll be back on television, possibly before the ‘Housewives’ even airs, and I think people are going to love it.”
Still, the Bravo alum says she’s “excited for the new cast,” revealing that some of the newbies may be friends she recommended.

GettyJosephs appeared on “Jeff Lewis Live” on April 16. While on, she said she’d been in talks about the show and considering leaving for months. According to her, “I left ‘Housewives of New Jersey,’ which was in the works since December, truthfully.”
When asked if her decision came as a result of cast dynamics, she confirmed, saying, “Yes, that’s what it was. And listen, that’s just what I stand on. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. And I was like, when people have nothing to lose, and I have a lot to lose, I don’t want to be around those people.”
Additionally, she stated that the show was going in a different direction. Josephs added, “It’s fine. It’s like I felt like the party was going. I left on a vindicated high, and I was like I’m going to leave before the lights go on. That’s just me.
So, it was just going in a direction that’s not me. It’s supposed to be about a real group of friends, and I have friends on the show who I adore, obviously Melissa [Gorga] and Dolores [Catania], but there are other people who I’m really not friends with, and that’s not going to be me. I’m not going to hang out with those people, and that’s it.”
Production on RHONJ season 15 is set to begin this spring.
