Alec Baldwin says he is ready to slow down and spend more time at home after a difficult few years that reshaped his life. The actor shared that he no longer feels the same drive to work and is now focused on his family.
Baldwin, 66, has built a decades-long career with roles in films like “The Departed and Beetlejuice,” along with his Emmy-winning performance on “30 Rock”. He has worked across film, television, and theater, becoming known for his sharp delivery and strong screen presence.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baldwin said the past few years pushed him to rethink his routine. He explained that stepping away from constant work gave him a new perspective. That time at home now plays a big role in his decision-making.
“I’m going to go off and do a bunch of things. But I was home and I got used to it, and I don’t want to leave my house anymore. I don’t. I don’t want to work anymore,” Baldwin said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Baldwin spoke clearly about where he stands today. He said he feels more comfortable at home than on set, and that shift has changed how he looks at his career. The update comes after a long period away from regular acting work, marking a major moment for one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces.
Alec Baldwin Says Time at Home Changed His Priorities
GettyBaldwin spoke openly about his current mindset and made his feelings clear.
“I was home with my kids for three and a half years,” Baldwin said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He added, “I hardly worked at all,” describing how his routine slowed down during that time.
“I was home and I got used to it,” he said, explaining how that period changed his daily life.
That experience now shapes his plans. “I want to retire and stay home with my kids,” Baldwin said. The statement has driven headlines about his future, even though he has not made an official retirement announcement.
Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ Experience Led to a Shift in Priorities
GettyBaldwin’s comments come after his involvement in the film “Rust”, which became a major turning point in his life. In 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died after an on-set incident during production in New Mexico. The situation led to a legal process that lasted several years.
The case against Baldwin was dismissed in 2024 due to issues tied to how evidence was handled.
Baldwin spoke about how that time affected him. “We had this incident, this tragedy, in New Mexico, where Halyna Hutchins was killed on the set of the film, and that was unspeakably difficult to deal with,” he said in the same interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
He explained that the situation led him to stay home more often. “Because of the situation in New Mexico, which was very painful, I wound up staying home a lot,” he said.
Even after the legal case ended, Baldwin said the experience stayed with him. He returned to complete “Rust”, showing his commitment to finishing the project.
Now, Baldwin says his focus is clear. He shares seven children with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and often speaks about the importance of being present at home.
Baldwin still has projects connected to his name, but his message is simple. After decades in Hollywood, he is choosing a quieter life centered on family.
