“The Young and the Restless” star Susan Walters (Diane) has given a tease at what’s next for Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane after his tryst with Patty (Stacy Haiduk). It was a shocking moment no one saw coming, least of all Diane. Walters hints at what’s in store for the formerly happy couple following this shocking turn of events.
Susan Walters Teases What’s Next for Jack and Diane on ‘The Young and the Restless’
If Jack being kidnapped by Victor (Eric Braeden) wasn’t enough drama for Diane, she found her kidnapped husband in bed with his former crazy ex Patty. Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Walters gave insight into the aftermath of finding Jack and Patty in bed together.
“Diane is devastated. She is shocked and angry and mortified and hurt. And her heart is broken. She feels like the relationship is over and that leads her to make a bold move,” the actress expressed.
Spoilers for the hit CBS soap tease that Diane leaves Jack after his betrayal. Despite how her alter ego is feeling, Walters has high hopes that Diane and Jack can weather this storm.
“No matter what Jack had done that’s iffy, Diane’s always done the worse things. In the back of Diane’s mind, she knows that she still has more negative marks on the chart than Jack does. So Diane has to wrestle with that in terms of wondering if she can forgive Jack,” she stated.
The past couple of years, things have been pretty smooth sailing for Diane and Jack as a couple. Before Patty, their biggest personal struggle was after Jack gave up his sobriety to save Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) when she fell off the wagon.
Patty’s a whole different problem than Nikki, and Walters knows it. Even though Patty is extremely dangerous and should never be underestimated, Walters is betting that Diane will come out on top in the end with Jack by her side.
This storyline is just heating up, and as Bergman teased, Diane finding Jack in bed with Patty is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s coming up on the show.
Susan Walters on Working with Stacy Hadiuk
There is no love lost between Diane and Patty, that’s for sure. However, that is not the case off-screen. Walters was thrilled to be working with Haiduk on the hit CBS soap.
It turns out the “Days of Our Lives” star previously worked with Walters’ husband, Linden Ashby, in a movie with Haiduk back in 1997. Walters recalled a lovely dinner nearly 30 years ago with Haiduk while she and Ashby were filming “The Beneficiary.”
The actress also admitted that because Haiduk’s portrayal of Patty is off the charts, she feels Patty was the best choice of the women in Jack’s life to bring back to cause a rift between him and Diane.
“Stacy’s very sexy, and her character was written a little crazy. So it all made the storyline make sense,” the soap star explained.
Walter enjoys the energy Haiduk brings to the role and how it changes the dynamic in any scene that she’s in. The actress also made it clear she has so much respect for Haiduk as an actress and can’t wait for more intense drama between Diane and Patty so she can work with the Peacock soap star more.
