“The Young and the Restless” star Peter Bergman wants fans to brace themselves for what’s coming on the hit CBS soap after Jack’s kidnapping and Patty’s (Stacy Haiduk) unexpected return to Genoa City. Bergman hinted that this is just the beginning of a whole lot of shocking twists on the show.
Peter Bergman Teases the Bigger Picture
Jack’s kidnapping was short-lived, but the ramifications are life-changing for the Abbott heir, especially after he was found drugged and hitting the sheets with Patty by his wife, Diane (Susan Walters). Bergman addressed the situation with Soap Opera Digest, teasing the fallout of this event.
“As big as this seems. It is just a spark for the fuse,” he shared with the outlet.
The moment is just a blip of a much bigger storyline coming for Jack and his family. Bergman warned fans to be prepared for the aftermath of Jack’s kidnapping.
“What this portends for Jack’s life is so much bigger than what you see on screen [right now]. Jack’s life is forever changed on that yacht. The repercussions of what happened on that boat will affect Jack’s life for years to come. There will be scars,” the actor stated.
It’s no secret that Victor (Eric Braeden) was the mastermind behind the kidnapping, but Jack’s the one whose life is turned upside down. Spoilers for the CBS soap tease Victor goes to even greater lengths to get back what is his, while Jack feels torn between Diane and Patty, which was not expected.
Reunited With Beloved Co-Star Stacy Haiduk
Whatever drama is happening on-screen, Bergman was beyond thrilled to learn he would be working with Haiduk again. It’s been over a decade since she played Patty, but for Bergman, it was like no time had passed at all.
The actor recalled seeing the “Days of Our Lives” star back on set again for the first time in the make-up room. Bergman called it “great fun” getting to reconnect with Haiduk, revealing they caught up on family life just like two old friends who hadn’t seen each other in a very long time.
Aside from adoring Haiduk as a person, Bergman also admires her work, admitting that not all daytime actresses can do what Haiduk does to bring Patty to life.
“There is a kind of spontaneous magic to her. You rehearse and rehearse, and somehow, they say, ‘Five, four, three, two, one,’ and it’s something completely different than you’ve seen [her do in rehearsal], and that’s fun. That’s exciting for an actor. She’s an actress who brings brand-new stuff right up to the last minute,” Bergman expressed.
The off-screen relationship between Haiduk and Bergman translates into pure enjoyment for fans on-screen, and it’s another reason he’s thrilled to have her back on the hit CBS soap.
