The wait is over for “Survivor” fans because “Survivor” 49 airs tonight, Wednesday, September 24. It will be a two-hour episode. The show will air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. It can also be streamed on Paramount+. But what else should fans know about this season? These are all the important details ahead of the show.
Who Is Competing on ‘Survivor’ 49?
“Survivor” 48 was a great season, featuring many exciting and memorable moments, and it also earned the show several Emmy nominations. “Survivor” 49 comes at a bit of an awkward time because there is so much hype surrounding “Survivor” 50, which is titled “In Hands of the Fans.” The cast will include 24 seasoned players, and the slots have already been filled, with only two left open for “Survivor” 49 contestants. But who will they be?
This season, there are 18 hopefuls ranging in age and background. The oldest player this season is 52-year-old airport ramp agent Matt Williams, and the youngest is 25-year-old tech salesman Rizo Velovic. Joining them are 49-year-old musician Kimberly ‘Annie’ Davis, 27-year-old political communications director Alex Moore, 36-year-old correctional officer Jake Latimer, and 28-year-old video editor Jawan Pitts. We also have 32-year-old law clerk Jason Treul, 36-year-old MBA career coach Kristina Mills, 29-year-old fitness trainer Michelle ‘MC’ Chukwujekwu, and 39-year-old global events manager Jeremiah Ing.
Also among the contestants are 31-year-old strategy associate Sophie Segreti, 27-year-old entrepreneur Sophi Balerdi, 35-year-old rocket scientist Steven Ramm, 27-year-old film producer Nate Moore, and 26-year-old financial crime consultant Nicole Mazullo. And rounding out the contestants are 30-year-old clinical social worker Sage Ahrens-Nichols, 31-year-old marketing strategist Savannah Louie, and 28-year-old wellness specialist Shannon Fairweather.
Interestingly, Treul and Chukwujekwu were brought to the show as alternates and managed to get their big shot because two players were sent home before the competition started. The reason? They broke the rules, Cosmopolitan reports. This resulted in these alternates becoming contestants, “just hours before filming began.” No details on what the former contestants did or who they were were reported.
All the Details About ‘Survivor’ 49
The competition will be filmed in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, USA Today reports. This is the same spot as it has been for the last 15 seasons.
Longtime “Survivor” host Jeff Probst returns for yet another season and discussed what to expect in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on September 24. “Every time a new group comes in, they find a different way to do something with the Shot in the Dark, or they encounter a new take on the Beware Advantage,” Probst said of the Season 49 players. “Anytime something like that happens, it now gifts the game because new things are possible or new things are plausible, even if they haven’t happened yet.”
The contestants will be split into three groups — Hina, Kele, and Uli — and will compete for a $1 million prize, Forbes reports.
