CBS Alters ‘Survivor 50’ Airtime for April 29 Episode – Here’s the Details

Following the fallout from last week’s episode of “Survivor 50,” CBS has revealed that some major last-minute changes have been made to the season’s forthcoming 10th episode.

The installment, titled “A Side Dish of Chaos,” was originally set to debut tonight, Wednesday, April 29 at 8:00pm ET. While the episode will still kick off at its pre-scheduled time, CBS revealed that it will extend beyond the show’s typical 90-minute slot, wrapping up at 10:00pm ET instead of 9:30.

Here’s everything you need to know about why CBS made the change, what to expect from tonight’s episode, and how to make sure you don’t miss a single second of “Survivor 50.”

The tenth episode of “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” is set to hit CBS screens nationwide tonight, Wednesday, April 29 at 8:00pm ET.

Unlike previous episodes, however, tonight’s continuation of the milestone golden anniversary season will air for a full two hours, boosted up from the show’s typical 90-minute slot to accommodate a cameo from YouTube phenomenon and “Beast Games” creator MrBeast (a.k.a. Jimmy Donaldson).

As always, new episodes of “Survivor 50” will be available to stream on Paramount+ the day after they air on CBS.

Why is Tonight’s (Apr. 29) Episode Longer Than Usual?

News of yet another super-sized episode of “Survivor 50” follows after the season’s historic three-hour premiere – which saw both Jenna Lewis-Dougherty and Kyle Fraser leave the competition – and Episode 6’s two-hour “Blood Moon” installment, which saw Kamilla Karthigesu, Genevieve Mushaluk and Colby Donaldson fall to the series’ first-ever triple elimination ceremony.

As such, Episode 10’s two-hour run-time could hint at another double-elimination. With 10 contestants remaining in the competition, at least four of them will have to be voted out over the next three episodes to allow a Final Six to enter the season’s May 20 finale.

That being said, tonight’s longer-than-usual episode was most likely extended by the network to accommodate the season’s final celebrity cameo from MrBeast, who will join the remaining castaways for the highly anticipated return of the “Survivor Auction.”

The “Beast Games” creator will similarly appear during the episode’s Tribal Council ceremony – a first for “Survivor” – where his mysterious briefcase, containing the so-called “MrBeast Super Beware Advantage,” will no doubt play a role in who’s voted off the island.

As Episode 10 of “Survivor 50” prepares to air on CBS tonight, just 10 castaways remain in the competition vying for the chance to become the next “Sole Survivor” and take home the $1 million grand prize that comes with it.
