Why Taylor Swift’s Jewelry Has Everyone Talking About Travis Kelce and Elizabeth Taylor

Taylor Swift turned heads during a recent night out in Brooklyn — not just because of her fashion, but because of the dazzling history behind the jewelry she wore.

The pop superstar, 36, stepped out alongside fiancé Travis Kelce while attending a wedding and later visiting Honey’s cocktail bar in Williamsburg on Saturday, May 16.

Swift Has Been Spotted With Numerous Pieces of Jewelry

Fans quickly noticed Swift was adorned in recognizable opal jewelry once owned by late Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor — a star who also inspired a song on Swift’s latest album.

Over the last several weeks, Swift has quietly incorporated pieces from Taylor’s former jewelry collection into her wardrobe.

She first wore an opal ring and round-cut bracelet during an April outing in New York City before appearing in another bracelet for a recent interview with The New York Times Magazine.

But for the Brooklyn outing, Swift elevated the look by wearing what appeared to be the complete matching set: two bracelets, a ring, and dramatic chandelier earrings featuring opals.

A Jeweler Dishes on the Sale

The rare collection immediately sparked buzz online after estate jeweler Adam Fox suggested the pieces may have been purchased by someone close to Swift — possibly even Kelce.

Fox Estate Jewelry’s Adam Fox later posted an Instagram Reel revealing details about the one-of-a-kind collection, which was designed by Darlene de Sedle.

According to Fox, the full jewelry suite originally sold at Christie’s in 2011 for $6,000 before his company later sold it through 1stDibs in 2025 for $125,000.

The timing and nature of the purchase stood out to him.

“The sale took place during Christmas time,” Fox explained, noting the buyer was a sports agent — something he described as unusual for a high-ticket jewelry purchase.

“On the majority of these online platforms, for higher-ticket items, somebody will reach out, ask questions,” Fox told Page Six Style. “Sometimes they will try to negotiate, sometimes they won’t. This just randomly sold.”

At first, Fox said he thought little of the sale despite finding it “very strange.” That changed after he saw photos of Swift wearing the complete collection.

“I was like, ah, this makes so much more sense,” he said, adding that it was “very cool” to see jewelry he once sold appear on one of the world’s biggest stars.

As for speculation that Kelce may have purchased the heirloom pieces? Fox stopped short of confirming anything.

“I’m just the jewelry dealer,” he said. “I just had to assume. And the only reason I assumed that was because it was going to a sports agent.”

Swift Has Previously Discussed Her Song ‘Elizabeth Taylor’

The jewelry choice feels especially meaningful considering Swift has openly spoken about her admiration for Elizabeth Taylor and how the actress inspired the song “Elizabeth Taylor” from her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl.

“I’m riding in the car with Travis,” Swift previously shared while explaining the inspiration behind the song. “I go on and on in explaining to Travis, like, why I love Elizabeth Taylor so much.”

“She fought for artists’ rights,” Swift said. “She was exploited in so many ways, and yet she kept her humanity. She kept her humor. She kept her passion for life.”
