From when and where the proposal happened to how the families celebrated, Ed has lifted the curtain on the romantic moment that had fans around the world swooning.
Here are 10 things Ed revealed about Travis and Taylor’s engagement.
1. The Proposal Happened Two Weeks Ago
Ed confirmed that the proposal actually took place on Sunday, August 10, in a rose garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. “Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” Ed said, as per ABC News 5 Cleveland.
2. Both Families Were Expecting It
According to Ed, both the Kelces and the Swifts had been anticipating the engagement. “Travis’ mother and Taylor’s parents have all expected this for a little while,” he shared.
3. Scott Swift & Ed Encouraged Travis to Propose
Ed admitted that both he and Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, had been urging Travis to ask Taylor to marry him. “Several weeks of prodding from myself and Scott Swift” helped bring the engagement forward, he said (as per Daily Mail).
4. Travis Wanted to Make It Special
Ed revealed Travis had initially planned to delay the proposal for a grand gesture, but decided sooner was better.
“He was going to make some big special event, and I told him repeatedly, you could do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
5. It Happened Before a Dinner Date
“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’” Ed explained. “They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.”
6. The Families Found Out Via FaceTime
Ed revealed that the couple called both families right away. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew,” he said.
7. Ed Learned the News During an Eagles Practice
At the time, Ed was attending a Philadelphia Eagles public practice, which drew 60,000 fans. “As soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say.”
8. The Couple Celebrated With a Family Dinner
Following the engagement, Ed joined Travis, Taylor, and Donna Kelce for a dinner at Travis’ house. “Taylor made dinner, and we had a wonderful dinner with them outside on the patio … to just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other. It’s truly kinda neat.”
9. A Wedding Date Has Not Been Set
While the proposal has been confirmed, Ed shared that no wedding date has been chosen yet. “They haven’t decided when they will be tying the knot,” he said.
