Why ‘The View’ Stars Won’t Be Dressing Up for Halloween This Year

The stars of “The View” have gone all out for Halloween in years past, but viewers won’t be seeing over-the-top Halloween costumes from Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, or Alyssa Farah Griffin this year.

‘The View’ Cohosts Won’t Be Dressing Up for Halloween

Brian Teta, longtime executive producer of the daytime talk show, shared the news on the Monday, October 27, episode of the “Behind The Table” podcast.

“This is going to be hard for people to hear, but no costumes for the hosts this year on Halloween,” Teta told Alyssa Farah Griffin. “Just prepare. I’m breaking the seal right now. We are gonna have fun stuff for Halloween, like we did last year. We’ll have ‘Hot Topics,’ we’ll have kids costumes, which everyone loves.”

Teta and Griffin also teased “a little surprise at the top” of the show.

“I know, I was bummed. But to be honest, with how heavy some of the topics are, you don’t want to be, like, dressed as a grape and talking about what’s happening in our news cycle,” Griffin explained.

According to Teta, in past years, when the cohosts were dressed for the holiday, they typically skipped the Hot Topics segment of the show.

“Last year, people complained a lot, but a lot of people watched. So hopefully, we’ll keep it going that way,” he added.

Cohosts Didn’t Dress Up for Halloween 2024

2024 marked the a rare change in which the cohosts opted out of themed on-air costumes for Halloween as the holiday landed just days before the presidential election.

“I’m going to announce something today that’s going to upset a portion of the audience, but I think it’s going to make you happy,” Teta announced with Joy Behar on the same podcast last October. “This year, because it’s only a few days before the election and we need to be live, the hosts are not going to dress up for Halloween.”

“It’s too important,” Behar said of the days leading up to the election.

While Teta vowed to “try to bring it back next year,” that plan will not be executed.

“The problem is, those shows are a huge undertaking, we have to do them on tape. Part of what our show has become and what it is right now, we can’t be on tape three days before the election,” he added

In years past, the cohosts have gone all out for their holiday attire, including Sherri Shepherd as a penny, Meghan McCain as Elsa from “Frozen”, Barbara Walters as Marilyn Monroe, and Whoopi Goldberg as Barbie from “Toy Story.”
