Spencer Pratt Emotionally Opens Up About the Loss of His House & His Childhood Home Too

Along with almost 15,000 other people in Los Angeles, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag lost their Pacific Palisades home in the devastating fires that ravaged the city in January 2025. Now, Pratt has opened up about how he’s been handling the loss of not only his and Heidi’s home, but his childhood home as well.

Spencer Pratt Reflects on Losing His Home in January Fires

“One thing I keep going back to is when you lose everything and you truly have nothing, your parents lost everything, you have to focus on what’s important,” the former MTV “The Hills” villain, 42, said during his appearance on “The View” on Wednesday, January 28.

To Pratt, that’s his family and his children.

“My kids being healthy, you know, my kids are alive and my wife, that’s really my focus and what keeps me going,” he continued. “What this journey this year has been on is my neighbors because they don’t have the platform I had, so I really had to step up for all the senior citizens that come to me crying in the town that are, you know, 80 years old and have lost everything. I have these social media platforms that reach millions, and I need to be the person to tell their story.”

The reality TV star emphasized how important it was for those in the community to remember what happened during the tragedy and to pinpoint what went wrong, adding that he wants to “make sure there’s change.”

“That way we can be honest with what happened and the failures and the negligence and do everything I can to make sure nobody burns alive again,” Pratt explained.

‘The Hills’ Alum Says Crystals Meant for His Sons Were Destroyed

Along with many of his belongings, Pratt revealed that he lost his sons’ inheritance in the fires.

“Most of my money was invested into crystals, that did go up in value,” he told the ladies of “The View” during his interview. “They have since all burned down, but they did go up in value. So there’s one thing I actually did invest in that was going to be in my sons’ inheritance, which is gone now.”

The dad of two has long been immersed in the world of healing crystals, a passion that turned into a business called Pratt Daddy Crystals after “The Hills” ended. Pratt has talked about using the stones as part of alternative wellness practices, and the venture even featured in “The Hills: New Beginnings” as part of his post-reality career.
