Reality TV star Sumit Singh gave fans a hard update this weekend, and it wasn’t just about his wife’s health. The “90 Day Fiancé” star, 38, posted a video Sunday, August 30, addressing both Jenny Slatten‘s worsening ALS symptoms and the visa delay he says could keep the couple apart indefinitely.
Why Does Sumit Fear Permanent Separation?
The couple wants to travel to the United States together so Jenny can explore ALS care and support. Sumit believes America may offer more specialized resources than they have found in India.
His visa problem has stopped that plan. Sumit fears that if Jenny travels with someone else and her condition worsens, she may become unable to return to India. If he can’t enter America, the couple could face indefinite separation.
“It means that we’re going to be apart, apart for kind of forever,” Sumit said.
Jenny does not want to make the trip without her husband. Addressing people who have suggested she return to her daughters in America, Sumit stressed that they have built a married life together in India.
“We love each other,” he said.
How Is Sumit Hoping to Get Help?
Sumit is seeking an immigration attorney or specialist who can help him determine whether another path is available. He said he can provide Jenny’s medical records and proof of their marriage.
He referred to 90 Day Fiancé stars Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio, who received help with an immigration issue. Sumit hopes someone can guide his family.
What Did Sumit Reveal About Jenny’s Health?
TLCJenny, 68, is experiencing changes to her speech, strength and ability to walk safely as her ALS progresses.
“Unfortunately, the ALS is progressing and now it’s starting showing more in her talk,” Sumit said. “Like it’s hard for her to talk now. And again, like a walk and maintain balance as well.”
When Sumit asked if Jenny wanted to speak, she replied, “No, I can’t talk.” He also described weakness around her spine and neck that has made it harder for her to remain balanced.
“Jenny is getting weaker and now I feel like this is the time when we will start using the equipments,” Sumit said.
What Is Next for Sumit and Jenny?
The couple has established a GoFundMe as Jenny’s medical and support needs grow. Sumit asked viewers to spread awareness in hopes of reaching someone who can help accelerate the immigration process.
For now, Sumit remains focused on caring for Jenny in India while searching for a way forward.
“So yeah, I’m trying to take care of her as much as I can and I don’t think anyone can do that better than me,” he said.
Despite the uncertainty, Sumit believes a stronger support system may be possible.
“I always keep my hopes high,” he said. “I always feel that America might have something better for Jenny and she can get at least a better support system.”
