Jenny Slatten is facing the fight of her life. People magazine exclusively confirmed that the “90 Day Fiancé” star, 68, has been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The progressive neurological condition has no known cure.
As Jenny navigates the uncertainty of an incurable disease, her husband, Sumit Singh, 38, has been by her side every step of the way.
The couple wasted no time addressing their fans — shortly after the story broke, they posted a heartfelt statement that was honest and vulnerable.
Jenny Slatten Asks Fans for Help in Emotional Instagram Statement
“With a heavy heart we wanted to share a news with all of you guys. That, there was a rumor that I had a stroke, but it turned out to be ALS. At first, we tried to keep it private because it’s been very emotional and overwhelming for us. We were hoping to find some kind of solution before speaking publicly. But after trying for some time, we feel like it’s time to reach out. Thank you so much for all the love and support. Right now, we are open to any kind of help — treatments, clinical trials, lifestyle changes, or anything that could help treat this disease or slow down its progression.”
The statement was their first public acknowledgment of a diagnosis that had turned their world upside down in December 2025.
Why Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh Kept the ALS Diagnosis Private for Months
Going public was not a decision Jenny and Sumit made lightly. For months after receiving the diagnosis, the couple stayed quiet. The experience had been emotionally exhausting and deeply personal. They had hoped to find answers, or at the very least some clarity, before saying anything to the world.
The news of the ALS diagnosis hit harder still as Jenny’s father had died from the same. “We cried and held each other,” Jenny told People magazine in an interview published on May 19.

Jenny is not looking for sympathy and has been open about that. She and Sumit remain in India and plan to keep living their lives as they always have.
“I don’t want to be treated any different,” Jenny told People. “Let’s just live our life as we have been while we can.”
Sumit also opened up about what the past several months have meant to him personally.
“Honestly, I never felt this much love, or I can love anyone this much,” he said. “I used to live for myself. But from the last so many years, I feel like doing things for someone who you love gives you happiness. I think that’s what love is. And that’s why we do things for each other, and that’s what make each other happy.”
Jenny added simply: “And we’re happy that we’re together.”
Jenny and Sumit will next appear on “90 Day: The Last Resort” season 3, premiering June 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
