Longtime fans of TLC’s “Sister Wives” got a front-row seat to the unraveling of the Brown family in recent years. The family patriarch, Kody Brown, went through three divorces in three years, as his spiritual wives decided to end their relationships with him.
The first to leave was the family’s former third wife, Christine Brown Woolley. “Sister Wives” fans were very supportive of Christine’s decision to leave, and thrilled when she found love again with her new husband, David Woolley.
While David and Christine were immediately smitten with one another, they did have to find their footing. In a recent sit-down interview, David revealed that Christine actually lied to him about one thing early in their relationship. Read on to discover what the “Sister Wives” star revealed.
David Woolley Reveals How Christine Brown Woolley “Lied” to Him
In a recent sit-down interview with “Pop Psych,” a podcast hosted by psychologist Dr. David Colarossi and his wife, Allison Colarossi, David Woolley shared a tidbit from the early days of his relationship with Christine.
Dr. Colarossi asked David what it was like to go from being a private person to having his life put out there for the world to see. David immediately started laughing at the question, which led to an unexpected revelation.
David told the hosts that soon after they started dating, Christine asked him if he would like to start filming for the show. When he asked how often, she told him it would only be a couple of times.
That’s when David joked to the hosts, “She lied!”
Christine Brown Woolley Says She Didn’t ‘Lie’ to David Woolley
As soon as David made the comment, Christine quickly pushed back, saying, “I did not lie!” The “Sister Wives” star clarified that no one expected David to be such a natural during sit-down interviews.
However, with David being a natural in front of the camera and finding favor with “Sister Wives” fans, Christine’s promise of only having to film a couple of times soon fell to the wayside.
Christine also praised her husband’s speaking skills. While David admitted being on camera didn’t come naturally at first, he said he quickly adapted. “I’m a fast learner, it just clicks in. Tell me, and I’ll do it,” he shared.
David Woolley Shares the Moment He Knew Christine Brown Woolley Was ‘The One’
After joking about Christine “lying” to him, David went on to share what made him feel confident about their future together. The “Sister Wives” star said it all came down to a performance of “The Little Mermaid” that the couple attended early in their relationship.
David explained that if they hadn’t gone to see the show, he doesn’t think things would have progressed the same way. Having grown up around polygamist relationships, with multiple older sisters and family members living that lifestyle, he said he’s seen many women come out of those situations lacking joy.
David went on to share that when he looked over at Christine during the film, she and another woman were sitting there crying. David saw how full of joy Christine was in that moment and knew that “she still had life in her” and that “she wasn’t beaten down being in a polygamous relationship.”
For David, that was a turning point in his relationship with Christine, where he felt comfortable with the potential of building a life together.
What started as a lighthearted misunderstanding about filming has since become just one of many moments the couple can now laugh about together. From early uncertainty to finding their rhythm both on and off camera, David and Christine’s relationship has continued to grow stronger. Of course, this is something “Sister Wives” fans have been able to witness every step of the way.
