Hallmark is gearing up for the next new episode of “When Calls the Heart.” Season 13 episode 4 is titled “Until Proven Guilty,” and it appears to mix the ongoing wildfire fallout with more uplifting moments — including a surprise birthday party that pulls Hope Valley together.
With questions still hanging over the fire and relationships shifting across town, the drama isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 13 Episode 4 Spoilers: A Surprise Party Unites Hope Valley
Hallmark’s official synopsis for “Until Proven Guilty” puts the community front and center.
According to the episode description, “Elizabeth helps Allie plan a surprise birthday party for Oliver that unites the community. Lee starts a new business venture.”
The party storyline appears to build off the growing attention on Allie, who has taken on a larger role this season. It also brings Oliver back into focus after recent episodes showed him trying to keep up with Allie’s interests — including her enthusiasm for literature and history.
The episode title also hints that the wildfire storyline will remain in the background, as investigators continue narrowing down what happened. While the party promises lighter scenes, the name “Until Proven Guilty” suggests Hope Valley’s current suspicion and uncertainty isn’t going away anytime soon.
One fan reaction circulating on X captured the tone of the preview, with a viewer posting: “Oh boy. Looks like things get dicey next week on WCTH.”
WCTH Season 13 Episode 3 Recap: Fire Suspicions, Mountie Tension, and Growing Fallout
Season 13 episode 3, titled “Back to School,” ended with the town still unsettled. Elizabeth Thornton returned to the classroom as Hope Valley children were joined by students from Benson Hills in the aftermath of the fire. The uneasy mood carried through town, where flyers asked for information about who may have started the wildfire.
The episode also centered on mounting suspicion surrounding McGinty, after Molly Sullivan told Lee Coulter she saw a man heading into the forest carrying something that looked like kerosene. Lee urged her to share what she saw with Nathan Grant and Bill Avery.
However, Nathan and Bill pushed back on taking action without more evidence, noting Nathan’s burn pattern work and expected information from Capital City.
Tensions rose when McGinty showed up at the saloon and Lee confronted him. The argument escalated, and Nathan ultimately took Lee to jail after McGinty claimed Lee caused him to fall.
Meanwhile, Lucas Bouchard dealt with vendors accused of price gouging fire victims, with Edie Martel assisting with legal statutes.
Their storyline continued to grow, with Chris McNally teasing to Swooon that viewers will see the dynamic intensify: “We do turn the heat up between them, and we get to push farther and see what happens.”
McNally added, “I think that we get to explore things we have not yet ventured into with those two.”
The episode also included a key reveal when Toby and Cooper admitted they feared they may have accidentally contributed to the fire while heating stew outdoors.
Hallmark’s official Instagram also teased continued twists after the episode aired, posting: “It seems as though the mystery of who started the fire just got complicated.”
“When Calls the Heart” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+.
