‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 14: Cast, Lori Loughlin’s Return, Wedding Tease & 2027 Premiere Update

Fans of “When Calls the Heart” will say goodbye to Hope Valley for now when the season 13 finale airs on March 22. However, Hallmark confirmed in December 2025 that the long-running drama has been renewed for season 14. As the finale approaches, new details about the future of Hope Valley are emerging. From the expected cast to the return of a familiar face and hints about a possible wedding storyline, here is what we know so far about “When Calls the Heart” season 14.

‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 14 Premiere Date Confirmed for 2027

Hallmark has not announced an exact premiere date for season 14, but the network has confirmed the show will return in 2027.

When the renewal was revealed in December 2025, Hallmark also confirmed that production for the upcoming season would begin in 2026. That timeline follows the series’ typical production schedule.

“When Calls the Heart” first premiered in 2014 and has remained one of Hallmark Channel’s longest-running original series. The show follows the residents of Hope Valley and centers on themes of community, faith, and resilience.

With season 13 concluding on March 22, viewers can expect the storylines introduced this season to continue developing once the series returns in 2027.

WCTH Season 14 Cast Expected to Return to Hope Valley

Many familiar faces are expected to return for season 14, assuming there are no major changes during the season 13 finale.

Erin Krakow is expected to return as Elizabeth Thornton, alongside Kevin McGarry as Nathan Grant. Other returning cast members are expected to include Jack Wagner as Bill Avery, Chris McNally as Lucas Bouchard, Pascale Hutton as Rosemary Coulter, and Kavan Smith as Lee Coulter.

Additional cast members expected back include Viv Leacock as Joseph Canfield, Natasha Burnett as Minnie Canfield, Ben Rosenbaum as Mike Hickam, Angela Wong as Mei Sou, Andrea Brooks as Faith Carter, Martin Cummins as Henry Gowen, Jaeda Lily Miller as Allie Grant, Hyland Goodrich as Little Jack, Loretta Walsh as Florence Blakeley, Johannah Newmarch as Molly Sullivan, and Hrothgar Mathews as Ned Yost.

Lori Loughlin Returning as Abigail Stanton in WCTH Season 14

One of the most notable updates about season 14 is the return of Lori Loughlin as Abigail Stanton.

Hallmark confirmed that Loughlin will reprise the role when the series returns. Abigail was one of the show’s original characters when “When Calls the Heart” debuted in 2014.

Michelle Vicary, head of programming for Hallmark Media, explained the decision in a statement.

“Since the series’ debut in 2014, the character of Abigail Stanton was a fan favorite and beloved by the Hearties,” Vicary said, via TV Insider. “At its core, the Hallmark brand is about hope, positivity, and connection, which is also the central theme of When Calls the Heart. We felt that Season 14 was the right time to continue Abigail’s story with her return to this beloved series.”

Abigail’s storyline previously ended during season 6 following Loughlin’s involvement in the Operation Varsity Blues college admissions scandal.

Loughlin recently reunited with the cast at multiple events, including the Hallmark Christmas Experience in December 2025 and a March 18 celebration of “When Calls the Heart” and “Hope Valley: 1874” in Los Angeles.

During the Christmas Experience panel, Loughlin expressed gratitude to the network and cast.

“I just want to thank everyone at Hallmark for being so loving and so welcoming,” she said. “And this just feels incredible. And I think — I mean, you guys all know it — we have such a special cast and such a special bond, and it’s just so nice to be back with my family.”

‘When Calls the Heart’ Wedding Storyline Teased for Season 14

The season 13 finale arrives with a major storyline building toward a potential proposal between Nathan and Elizabeth.

The official synopsis for the finale reads, “At the Hope Valley Harvest Festival, the community reflects on all they’ve gained after loss, as they look towards the future.”

Series co-creator and showrunner Brian Bird recently hinted that the story between Nathan and Elizabeth could continue evolving in future seasons in an interview with Parade.

“What other show can say in Season 13 that it’s getting better?” Bird said.

“Sometimes you feel you are losing steam, but we don’t feel that way about WCTH; it’s only growing and building with each new chapter.”

Bird also explained that the show plans to explore what happens after major romantic milestones.

“A lot of people will talk about courtships and say that when they are finally married, the storyline is over,” he said. “But I don’t think a potential engagement or marriage is the end to their storytelling.”

Looking ahead to the next season, Bird added another tease for fans.

“I’m excited as I peek in right now for Season 14—it is as fun and epic as this season,” he said. “The audience needs to buckle up and not get too comfortable with Nathan and Elizabeth—because there is more coming.”

When asked directly about a possible wedding in season 14, Bird responded, “No comment—the writing is on the wall.”
