Spoiler: Who Started the ‘WCTH’ Goldie National Park Wildfire in Season 13?

The Goldie National Park wildfire in “When Calls the Heart” shifted the lives of everyone in Benson Hills. With the fire having ravaged through the entire town, those who lived there were forced to relocate to Hope Valley.

Homes, businesses, the land — it’s all gone.

Although those of Hope Valley think they have a strong sense of who started the fire, with Molly Sullivan revealing she saw someone with a container of kerosene just moments before the flames engulfed the park, two very shocking Hope Valley residents came forward with a different story.

Two Unsuspecting Faces Come Forward

In season 13, episode 3, young students Cooper and Toby revealed they were the ones who started the catastrophic wildfire.

The two boys showed up at Elizabeth Thornton’s doorstep at the very end of the episode to come clean after being filled with horrible guilt. They explained how they were hiking at the time and took a break to cook themselves a meal. When they lit a small flame, it lost control and lit up the entire park.

Before the two children shared the truth, they expressed sadness during Elizabeth’s field day for the students. While the entire class enjoyed a day outside on an obstacle course, Cooper and Toby stood at a distance without taking part in the fun games.

And when Elizabeth gave the students a pep talk on “trust,” the two boys were beside themselves, unable to cope with the damage they had caused. They knew they had to be honest.

Will Hope Valley Forgive?

Only Elizabeth is aware of the truth, but in episode 4, Hope Valley will begin to decide how to forgive the two boys for the wreckage of not only an entire town but also Goldie National Park, which was set to open the day after it caught fire.

Not to mention those injured by the flames. Although everyone was accounted for, young Gwendolyn became orphaned after her father was wounded in the accidental fire. Despite the safe surroundings of Hope Valley, all she can think about is her father. Other displaced children have also expressed their anger at relocating to an entirely new location. Will they find it in their hearts to forgive Cooper and Toby?

To see what happens next on “When Calls the Heart” after Hope Valley learns the truth about the wildfire, Hearties can watch the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 8/7c.

  1. Don’t believe this article. Molly said she saw “someone” walk into the park carrying a can of kerosene. And the two boys said they started a fire but put it out just like how Nathan showed them Why write the article if yourenot going to watch the show. Get it right people!

  2. I don’t think the boys were responsible for the fire, although I can see where they might think they were. I still think it was McGinty or someone he hired.

  3. It would break my heart if they mistreated those boys or Allie It was an accident. I still think that someone else had a hand in it. I don’t think I could watch it anymore.
