Ashley Hamilton is recovering in the hospital after suffering an apparent overdose, according to reports.
Sources told TMZ the 51-year-old actor was found last Thursday at an Airbnb in the Los Angeles area while experiencing a medical emergency believed to be linked to an unknown substance.
What We Know So Far
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition as he continues to recover.
Hamilton, who has appeared in films including “Iron Man 3,” has long been open about his struggles with addiction.
Over the years, he has reportedly entered rehab multiple times and later worked as a sober companion, helping others navigate recovery.
Beyond his career, Hamilton comes from a well-known entertainment family.
He is the son of George Hamilton and Alana Stewart, and was once the stepson of music legend Rod Stewart.
He also appeared alongside family members, including Kimberly Stewart and Sean Stewart, on the short-lived reality series “Stewarts & Hamiltons.”
Hamilton’s personal life has also remained in the public eye due to his brief marriage to late actress Shannen Doherty.
The Two Had a Brief Romance
The two wed in 1993 after just two weeks of dating—he was only 19 at the time—but their marriage ended in divorce five months later.
Despite the short-lived relationship, Hamilton has spoken warmly about Doherty and the impact she had on his life.
Following her death in July 2024 after a long battle with cancer, he shared an emotional tribute.
“Shannen was not only my wife, she was my guardian angel,” Hamilton said at the time. “Even though things don’t always work out the way we hope they will, she stood by my side during some of my darkest times. My love and admiration for her lasted far longer than our short-lived marriage.”
Doherty’s passing marked the end of a years-long fight with breast cancer, which she was first diagnosed with in 2015.
Her publicist Leslie Sloane confirmed to PEOPLE at the time that she died surrounded by loved ones after the disease had progressed to Stage 4.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” the statement began.
Sloane continued, “The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
