Actor and musician Corey Feldman has gathered a group of his former co-stars from the classic 1985 adventure comedy movie “The Goonies” to recreate an iconic scene from the film.
Feldman, 55, rose to fame in the 1980s. As well as “The Goonies,” he also starred in movies like 1984’s “Gremlins” and “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter,” 1986’s “Stand by Me,” and 1987’s “The Lost Boys.”
He later went on to voice Donatello in 1990’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and appear in the likes of 1994’s “Maverick,” 2004’s “Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys,” and 2018’s “Corbin Nash.”
However, Feldman’s role as Clark “Mouth” Devereaux is arguably his most famous one.
Per IMDb, “The Goonies” plot was as follows: “A group of young misfits called The Goonies discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate’s long-lost treasure.”
The film also starred Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, Ke Huy Quan, Anne Ramsey, Robert Davi, Joe Pantoliano, and John Matuszak.
Feldman uploaded his re-creation of one of the movie’s climactic shots to social media.
Four Originals & Two Guests Recreated ‘The Goonies’ Shot
During the climactic scenes of “The Goonies,” the eponymous group discover the villainous Fratellis didn’t steal all of One-Eyed Willy’s treasure from them.
The Walsh family’s housekeeper, Rosalita, played by Lupe Ontiveros, spots a bag full of jewels acquired by Sean Astin’s Mikey. She pours them into the hands of Mikey’s mother, played by Mary Ellen Trainor. The Goonies then look down, in an iconic low-angled shot, in awe at the jewels.
Discovering the jewels means the Goonies and their families can afford to save their homes in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, after initially facing foreclosure. It’s a triumphant moment that created a happy ending to the wonderful family film.
At Fan Expo Chicago this past weekend, Corey Feldman gathered some of the cast — and a couple of guests — to recreate the iconic scene. He uploaded the photograph to his Instagram account, sharing it with his 287,000 followers.
Feldman (Mouth), Sean Astin (Mikey), Kerri Green (Andrea), and Martha Plimpton (Stef) were present from the original group. Added to it were Robert Davi (who played Jake Fratelli) and Astin’s daughter Ali.
It was so great to see the shot recreated with so many stars of the film — that’s despite Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, and Ke Huy Quan beinh missing from the original shot.
Feldman captioned the post, “GOONIES CAST REUNION @fanexpochicago WHERE WE RECRE8ED THE FAMOUS & ICONIC SCENE FEOM THE FILMS CLIMACTIC FINALE, HOWEVER WE R MISSING A FEE #THEGOONIES & REPLACED THEM W A #FRATELLI & AN ASTIN!”
He then added the hashtags “#GOONIEREUNION” and “#GOODENUFF” and acknowledged the guests in the image, writing, “@robertdavi @marthaplimpton SEANASTIN & #KERRIGREEN PLUS SPECIAL GUEST (SEANS DAUGHTER) @ali_astin.”
Feldman’s followers and fans of “The Goonies” loved the picture and flocked to the post’s comments section to have their say on it.
