After an intense interaction with a fan escalated to him being removed from the room, Keke offered insight into how she felt when the proposal happened. She told “Decisions Decisions,” I knew something was wrong because the ring was nice.” She added,
“It wasn’t no cracker jack ring…it looked expensive. That’s how I knew something was up.”
She continued to share what was going through her mind when the proposal happened during a panel discussion to promote her upcoming film “I Love Boosters.” When a man whom she did not know approached the stage with a ring and got on one knee, the “Nope” star initially thought the proposal was a prank. She continued,
“I could see in his eyes we had romance. We had a lifetime in this man’s eyes. It gave ‘the day finally came’ and I’m like, ‘how can this be?”

She revealed that being nervous for her safety came only after she worried for the man’s mental wellbeing.
“In the moment it went from this is a joke to I got to be careful with how I break the reality of this guy,” she said referring to the man’s potential circumstances that led to him publicly proposing to a celebrity.
