Kelly Clarkson made her official return to social media with an emotional anniversary post, just weeks after the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The season 1 “American Idol” winner is celebrating the moment her whole life changed.

On September 4, Clarkson took to Instagram to celebrate a very important moment in her life — when she won “American Idol” season 1.
“To everyone that took time 23 years ago to call in and vote for me, thank you 🙏,” she wrote in the caption.
Clarkson continued, “Winning ‘American Idol’ changed my life and I will be forever grateful for all of you that have supported me for so many years. It is a gift to find your purpose and passion, and to be able to make a living doing it is the cherry on top.”
She added, “Thank you, always.”
Clarkson’s “American Idol” win launched her career — and she’s been in the spotlight ever since.
The last time the singer posted on Instagram was the day before Blackstock’s death. On August 6, she took to social media to share that she needed to postpone her remaining August Las Vegas concert dates.
In part, she wrote at the time, “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”

Clarkson’s fans lit up the comments section, praising her for the well-deserved win and fondly remembering the “American Idol” moment.
