Nicole Kidman is putting work first amid personal heartbreak. Just four days after filing for divorce from former “American Idol” judge and country star Keith Urban, the Oscar-winning actress, 57, made a poised public appearance at amfAR’s Dallas auction on Saturday, October 4, showing her commitment to the causes she supports.
GettyThe charity event, held at the home of United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, raised funds for AIDS research and HIV prevention. As per the video shared by People, Kidman confidently took the center stage:
Kidman joined several stars at the gala, including Teri Hatcher, Diana Ross, “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan, and Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki. She also took the stage to present Sheridan, 55, with the Award of Inspiration.
Her appearance came shortly after news broke that Kidman and Urban had separated earlier this summer following 19 years of marriage. The “Lioness” actress officially filed for divorce in Nashville on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences and listing that date as the official date of their separation.
Family Remains Her Focus Amid Split
Getty/CanvaA source close to the actress told People that Kidman is approaching the split with quiet strength and grace. “She’s been stressed because she knew the separation would eventually become public, and she was dreading it,” the insider shared. “But she’s surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it’s out, she’s just focused on what’s ahead and her girls.”
Kidman and Urban share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. According to court documents, Kidman has requested to be the primary residential parent in their custody agreement.
Inside the Couple’s 19-Year Marriage
GettyKidman and Urban married in 2006 after meeting at an event in Los Angeles the previous year. Despite their nearly two-decade marriage, sources told People that the decision to separate wasn’t Kidman’s. “She didn’t want this,” one insider shared, noting that “the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” especially her sister Antonia.
The sisters were spotted taking a walk together in Nashville on October 1, marking Kidman’s first public appearance since news of the split surfaced.
While Kidman recently wrapped filming for “Practical Magic 2” in London, Urban continues his world tour. The country musician once reflected on their relationship, telling CBS News in 2016 (as reported by People), “Meeting her and getting married wasn’t life-changing, it was life-beginning.”
Now, as the actress focuses on the next chapter of her life, she appears to be doing so with the same grace, purpose, and resilience that have long defined her.
