Nicolas Cage Buys $6.5 Million ‘Luxury Manhattan Apartment’ in ‘Coveted’ Building

Nicolas Cage is making himself at home in New York City. The star has just purchased a “luxury Manhattan apartment,” according to Realtor.com.

Realtor.com notes that “Cage has reportedly snapped up a sprawling two-bedroom condo in the heart of Manhattan for $6.5 million—and took out a $4.55 million mortgage for the deal.”

“The 62-year-old actor is said to have purchased the unit inside the coveted Essex House Residences building at 160 Central Park South for a steep $1.4 million discount—after the property initially hit the market for $7.9 million,” per Realtor.com.

Cage’s New Home Was Being Rented Out for a ‘Sky-High Price’

Cage’s new home “is currently marked as ‘pending’ sale on its listing—having also previously been offered up as a rental for the sky-high price of $25,000 a month,” according to Realtor.com.

The unit is “an unparalleled blend of elegance, comfort, and convenience, right at the doorstep of Central Park,” and offers stunning views, according to the listing, via Realtor.com. “The thoughtfully designed layout seamlessly combines sophistication and functionality, with the unique ability to split the residence into two independent living spaces, each complete with its own kitchen and bathroom, perfect for flexible living arrangements or hosting guests.”

The Real Deal first reported the sale, and noted that “the home is a combination of a full-sized and an accessory unit. Spanning roughly 2,400 square feet, the home has two bedrooms in the northeast and southwest corners separated by a massive great room overlooking Central Park.” Beyond that, “[t]he primary suite has two park-facing windows and an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi soaking tub and separate shower.”

Other Celebrities Have Called Essex House Residences Home

In case Cage was wondering before he purchased his new home, the Essex House abode is in a building that’s definitely celebrity-worthy.

Indeed, “Cage is not the first artist to pick up a unit in the building,” per The Real Deal. The late David Bowie and his wife, supermodel Iman, lived in the building from 1992 to 2002, according to the New York Post. The unit they called home sold in 2022 for almost $5 million.

Additionally, “[o]n-again, off-again Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher bought a pad at the building for $2.5 million in 2012,” The Real Deal notes. “The British rocker listed unit 1709 for $4 million two years later, before finally selling it two years later for $2 million.”
