Along with the fact that Reese Witherspoon makes beloved movies (“Cruel Intentions,” “Legally Blonde” and “Walk the Line,” just to name a few) and popular TV shows (we couldn’t not mention “Big Little Lies” and “The Morning Show”), the star is crafty when it comes to making big deals.
Indeed, “Witherspoon may have started as America’s sweetheart, but she’s since become a Hollywood powerhouse with serious business and real estate savvy,” according to Robb Report (RR). In fact, she now has a “$36 million property portfolio.”
Over the years, the star has snapped up multiple star-worthy homes (as well as a few rather humble abodes) in Nashville and Franklin (Tennessee), as well as Los Angeles and the Bahamas.
Nashville
Although Witherspoon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Years later, it’s still a place she calls home.
“Witherspoon’s real estate story starts back in 2003, when she picked up a modest two-bedroom home for just $125,000—a humble property compared to what was to come,” per RR. “By 2020, Witherspoon was back in her hometown market, adding a four-bedroom suburban house for $676,000. A year later, she scooped up a two-bedroom condo for $485,000.”
Two years after that, Witherspoon leveled up as “2022 marked her biggest Nashville splash yet: first, a historic three-bedroom home for $4.2 million, and then, that spring, a sprawling $18 million estate straight out of a storybook, complete with ivy climbing the facade and a striped breakfast nook,” RR notes. “She wasn’t done—by 2023, she’d rounded out her local portfolio with a 5,500-square-foot home for $5.25 million.”
Franklin
CanvaFound south of Nashville, Franklin is where Witherspoon can head when she wants to enjoy her “serene retreat in [the] Temple Hills neighborhood,” RR explains. “Purchased in December 2021 … for $672,000, this three-bedroom, two-bath, 2,202-square-foot home sits on a private, tree-lined cul-de-sac overlooking the 13th fairway of Texas Hills Country Club. Open, airy spaces and abundant natural light make the pad feel bright and welcoming, providing just the right amount of Southern charm.”
With a primary suite on the main floor and three spacious bedrooms upstairs, RR adds that the home also boasts “inviting living and entertaining areas—including a sunroom, huge deck, and generous kitchen with island and pantry—make it perfect for both relaxing and hosting. Updated baths feature two walk-in tiled showers and a freestanding soaking tub, while hardwoods, tile floors, and large windows bring style and comfort together in this peaceful golf course retreat.”
Los Angeles
Witherspoon also owns multiple properties in California. RR points out that “[i]n 2022, she scooped up a four-bedroom, three-bath Pacific Palisades home for $5 million, featuring 2,588 square feet of bright, airy interiors and a private backyard perfect for morning coffee or afternoon poolside lounging.”
It wasn’t long before the star picked up another abode in the area. “The following year, she added a 1938-built two-bedroom, one-bath West L.A. home for just under $2 million,” per RR. “Though cozier, at 850 square feet on a 6,093-square-foot lot, the digs are packed with character and modern perks: a 1940s Wedgewood range in the kitchen, honed black granite countertops, marmoleum flooring, and a backyard oasis brimming with jasmine, roses, olive trees, and a mature fig tree.”
She also owned a home in the Brentwood area, which she bought in 2020, for $15.895 million, according to Mansion Global. However, she sold it two years later for $21.5 million.
The Bahamas
When Witherspoon wants to kick back in a tropical paradise, she can schedule some time at her home in the Bahamas. Owning what RR calls “an island escape” and a “luxury retreat,” her property is located “in the exclusive, guard-gated Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club on Great Guana Cay, a community known for its golf course, tennis courts, water sports, and even a charming village with a grocery store and restaurant.”
Although there’s not that much known about Witherspoon’s residence, we can tell you that she’s neighbors with other famous figures in the area, such as Cindy Crawford, Michael Jordan and Tom Brady.
When it comes to the Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club, it’s “located along a stretch of private perfection on the Bahamian island of Great Guana Cay in the Abacos, [and] is way more than just another private beach community,” according to Forbes. “Sure, it boasts the requisites: fitness center, tennis and basketball courts, luxurious spa, amazing restaurants, and killer beach club stocked with every toy available. The community also has a deep-water marina where members can choose from a host of large, fast, and comfortable boats and, of course, the beaches and sunsets are spectacular.”
