The former Los Angeles home of “Golden Girls” star, the late Estelle Getty, has hit the market and is selling for $7.65 million.
“Almost 18 years after [Getty] died at age 84, the Hollywood legend’s home in the lower Bird Streets neighborhood of Hollywood Hills, just north of Sunset Boulevard, has surfaced for sale,” according to Robb Report.
Getty“The veteran TV actress and comedian—probably best known for her iconic Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning turn as sharp-tongued Sophia Petrillo on the hit TV sitcom The Golden Girls—owned the property for close to seven years after purchasing it through a trust in 1994,” Robb Report explains. “She sold the place in 2001 for around $1.5 million to its current owners, who have since made several updates.”
The House Features Plenty of Attractive Details
“Gated 1948 Traditional-style home with 5 bedrooms and 5 baths, … [t]he front door opens to a black-and-white marble foyer and step-down living room with bay window, crown molding, and antique French marble wood-burning fireplace,” according to the listing from Aileen Comora and Paul Lester of The Agency.
The home’s formal dining room, which features wainscoting and pocket doors, opens into the family room, where residents can find “a second wood-burning fireplace with antique mantel, built-ins, and bookshelves.” There is also a breakfast bar and informal dining area that “flow into the large chef’s kitchen with professional appliances and walk-in pantry.” On top of that, windows and French doors let in natural light and offer views of the backyard.
The primary suite boasts a “cedar-lined walk-in closet and bath with soaking tub and heated floors.” Two other sizable bedrooms share a full bathroom.
There is also a separate suite for guests or staff, which offers an ensuite bath and a walk-in closet.
Estelle Getty’s Former Home Has Even More to Offer
The listing also notes that “[t]he lower level with separate entrance offers flexible use as an office, bedroom, gym, screening room, or guest and staff quarters, with ensuite bath, plus a temperature-controlled 1,500-bottle wine cellar, and large storage room.”
The home’s front exterior boasts a wraparound porch that “overlooks the lush, secluded front yard.”
Sitting on an “exceptional deep lot” that is nearly half an acre and “is framed by mature trees and gardens,” the property also includes a pool, a lounge and outdoor dining areas.
The listing adds, “Exceptionally private, meticulously maintained, and extensively updated, the property is ideal for year-round indoor/outdoor entertaining.”
