Tributes continue to flood in for the late, great country music icon Dolly Parton following her sad passing yesterday at the age of 80. While many messages are coming from figures within the music industry in which Parton is such a legend, prominent personalities from all walks of life are paying their respects, including many stars of the big screen.
One of the latest actresses to have their say on Parton’s passing is the Academy Award-winning star Anne Hathaway.
Hathaway never met Parton, admitting to MTV that doing so would leave her starstruck. The actress also told the channel that she was once stood next to Parton in a hallway, but “wimped out” of striking up a conversation with her.
The “Les Misérables” and “The Odyssey” star took to social media to say a few words about the beloved “9 to 5” singer.

Clearly a huge fan of Dolly Parton’s, Anne Hathaway shared her heartfelt tribute to the iconic star with the 44.2 million followers on her Instagram account.
The post includes a carousel of seven photographs and two videos. The photographs all show Parton smiling, doing everything from performing to cuddling a kitten. In the first video, Parton explains how she works hard at being happy, enjoys her life, and feels lucky to make a living doing something she loves. The second video is a typically buoyant and supportive Parton giving a motivational speech about how to be confident and believe in yourself.
Hathaway’s caption on her post simply begins, “Dolly 💔.”
It goes on, “Aw heck… Heaven just got one of its own back.”
The star then writes, “Alright my loves, I know this is hard but just think: she left us so much to work with. She shared with us so many melodies, so many lyrics, so many stories, so many jokes, so much laughter, so many iconic performances but most of all, so many shining examples of how to be a treasure of humanity. She more than deserves her rest, and now it’s up to us to do our best follow in her brilliant, adorable, one-of-a-kind, bedazzled footsteps so that we still feel that magic in our world.”
Her caption concludes, “Dolly, you have always been one of my angels. I will always love you xx.”
The comments section of Hathaway’s post is full of messages from people complimenting her words and paying their own respects to Parton.
