Dolly Parton’s niece Lainey Parton paid tribute to her in a special and permanent way, and she decided to share this decision with fans. On Tuesday, September 1, Lainey posted a photo of herself with her tattoo artist. She has new ink on her forearm that reads “Love you, Granny.” It appears to be in Parton’s handwriting, making this tattoo even more meaningful.

In the Instagram caption, Lainey shared her thoughts. “About a year ago, I met Justin at my aunt’s distillery, @shinegirlspirits, and I never could’ve imagined that a year later he’d be gifting me a tattoo in honor of my granny!” she began. “This tattoo means so much more to me than just another piece of ink. It’s something I’ll carry with me forever and a little reminder of my granny that I’ll always have with me.”
She thanked the tattoo artist for his work and praised his talent, saying how much she appreciates the tattoo he gave her, and adding, “This is something I’ll cherish forever”
Fans showed their support for Lainey, praising her decision and sending their condolences as she and her family navigate this incredibly difficult time. “That’s so sweet I love it. I am making a painting of the smokies with butterflies in honor of her -just started it today,” a comment reads. “I love it. And I love how we’re finding out that she was a grandma to so many of her family. People had always said she never had kids but boy were they wrong,” a second person wrote.
Remembering Beloved Country Star Dolly Parton
Parton passed away on August 25 after a private battle with cancer. She was 80. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced the news on her official Instagram account. “She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD and on your phone playlist, becoming an extended part of your family whether you liked it or not. Our family and the team she has entrusted with her legacy will work diligently to ensure her spirit will live with us forever,” Seaver said.
He continued, “Dolly was a farmer, just like her daddy; he farmed the soil, she farmed songs and happiness. Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.”
Tributes for Parton have poured in, with fans, celebrities, and loved ones leaving heartfelt messages on social media. The country music icon’s niece, Heidi Parton, covered her song “Burning” in tribute. Her other niece, Jada Star, performed in her honor at the Grand Ole Opry. The family has also shared sweet messages and throwback photos as they remember the person who meant so much to them.
