GettyGwyneth Paltrow surprised concertgoers when she stepped onto the Grand Ole Opry stage on Nov. 20. As People reported, the event celebrated the iconic Nashville venue’s 100th anniversary and featured a performance from Hank Williams’ granddaughter, country singer Holly Williams, and her husband, Chris Coleman.
As Williams invited Paltrow on stage, she told the crowd, “Can yโall believe your luck? Yโall are used to those Nashville guests, but not those Oscar-winning Hollywood guests.”
Williams, Coleman, and Paltrow then sang Williams’ song, “Drinkin.”
The country singer then joked with concertgoers, “Can you believe it? Isn’t it annoying when they can just do everything, and they just walk out looking all like that, right? Looking real good.” The trio then sang a second tune, Williams’ song, “Waiting on June.”
People posted a video clip of the trio performing together on Instagram, and the comment section was flooded with praise for Paltrow’s singing abilities.
“Two talented gems ๐ค,” a comment read. “Gwyneth sounded good ๐,” another read. “absolutely beautiful singing ๐ฎ๐๐.”
Paltrow’s Relationship With Holly Williams

Williams shared that she and Paltrow first met several years ago, and “fell in love” with her “secret voice.”
In 2020, Williams told People about their close-knit relationship, bonding over being mothers.
“We became friends four or five years ago and did a summer beach trip together where she had these chalk boards with the kidsโ names and this point system. Itโs a genius idea that I hope to try. Iโm lucky to have great girlfriends like Gwyneth and other women who are patient with their childrenโand I was lucky to have a patient and loving mom. Thatโs all been great for me,” Williams shared.
This wasn’t the first time that Paltrow has taken the stage to showcase her amazing singing skills. When she starred as a country singer in the 2010 movie “Country Strong,” she performed at that year’s CMA Awards while also playing the acoustic guitar.
