Lainey Wilson is almost as famous for her signature bell bottoms as she is for her hit songs.
But fans of the ACM Entertainer of the Year shouldn’t expect Lainey to walk down the aisle in bell bottoms when she marries fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
In a recent appearance on “Taste of Country Nights,” when asked if her wedding dress would lean into a bell bottom shape, she replied, “I’d be lying to you if I told you yes. Honestly, from what I’ve heard from other brides, you can plan all you want, but once you try the dress on, you’ll know which one is which.”
“I could go into it saying ‘Yeah, I kinda want it to resemble bell bottoms,'” Lainey admitted, “but who knows, I might come out there looking like Cinderella!”
But to find out, she’ll have to carve out some time for wedding dress shopping!
Lainey Wilson admitted to People, “I need to go dress shopping or I need to talk to somebody about making a dress. I need to go get fitted. How about that? That’s the first step.”
Lainey Wilson Has One Goal for Her Wedding Dress
While she may not know what her wedding dress will look like, Lainey Wilson is crystal clear on the effect she wants it to have.
She told People, she hopes Duck will be brought to tears by the sight of her.
“I’m excited to just step outside of the box and see what happens,” Lainey said. “So hopefully when he sees me, he’ll be boohooing.”
In fact, Lainey admits that Duck has never seen her in a dress.
In an appearance on “The Kelleigh Bannen Show,” she revealed, “I’m going to wear a dress. I hadn’t done the whole dress shopping. We haven’t even picked a date or anything like that. We got some time, but I figured, you know what? I hadn’t worn a dress for him yet, and I guess that would be the day to do it.”
Lainey Wilson Reveals That Wedding Won’t Feature Country Music
Perhaps surprisingly, Lainey Wilson says her wedding will not feature country music.
During an interview on “Taste of Country Nights,” Wilson revealed that the couple will be “going the jazz route.” Lainey says she’ll be looking to hire a jazz band or two for the festivities.
And while she has high hopes that the sight of her in a dress will trigger water works from her beloved, don’t expect to see her dad crying.
“I ain’t seen that man cry once in my whole life,” the “Somewhere Over Laredo” singer said laughing.
Bell Bottoms Remain Near and Dear to Lainey Wilson’s Heart
While Lainey’s wedding dress may not show it, her commitment to bell bottoms runs deep.
In fact, the singer refers to her style of music as “Bell Bottom Country” and even named her 2022 album that.
She has a bar in Nashville named “Bell Bottoms Up,” where she performs sometimes when she’s in town. And she recently released a single by the same name recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios. In a video for the song, Lainey says, “I am absolutely obsessed with bell bottoms. I wrote this song with my band and it’s gonna be the theme song for the bar.”
In fact, when she was a guest on Taste of Country Nights, host Evan Paul asked her just how many pairs of bell-bottoms she has in her closet. Wilson giggled and took a deep breath before answering, “I have completely lost count, but, I’ve worn a new pair on stage each time for the past 15 years, so..”
Paul did some quick math, using Concert Archives to find the number of Lainey Wilson’s professional career shows since 2013, which is 685. He added in press days and interviews, where Wilson always sticks to her signature look.
Then he came back to Wilson with the figure of 1,000 pairs. To which she replied, “Yes, probably well over that.”
