Let the Tears Begin

We have Dedication Night on “Dancing With the Stars” season 34 tonight, and it’s going to be a lot of tears! Alfonso and Julianne are in place, and the stars have taken the stage! For tonight, Kym Johnson Herjavec is joining the judges as a guest!

Andy Richter & Emma Slater

For tonight, Andy is dedicating this performance to his daughter, Cornelia. This is his younger step-daughter, whom he adopted once he married her mother. For tonight, they will be performing a Salsa to “Jump In the Line” by Harry Belafonte.

While the parts with his daughter were beyond cute, the actual routine didn’t seem to have much content. The people love him, and I think his daughter being there will gain more votes.

Judges’ Feedback: Kym said that it was the most joyful way to start the night. Bruno said plenty of steps, but not always on time. Carrie Ann said she saw improvement tonight, but he was off in the musicality at the beginning. Derek said that it was positively playful and full of love.

Judges’ Scores: 24 out of 40

Robert Irwin & Witney Carson on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

They plateaued last week, so hoping to do even better this week. He is performing this one for his mom, and we are all going to be a mess on this one. He talks so highly of his mom, and it’s beyond nice to hear. They will be trying to help people on that grief journey. They will be performing a Contemporary to “You’ll Be In My Heart” by Phil Collins, dedicated to his mother, Terri Irwin.

I mean, this was a Contemporary, and we all knew this was going to be something beyond emotional. I am in tears over this one, but I knew I would be. So good and that ending with his mom on “Dancing With the Stars” season 34, come on now!

Judges’ Feedback: Bruno said he’s looking at you, kid, and he’s smiling. This was a true expression of everlasting love. Carrie Ann said your son is an impressive man, and it was really beautiful. Derek said he has so much love for his family, and he is so proud of him. Kym said Terri, the moment you had with your son got me.

Judges’ Scores: 35 out of 40 (best scores of the season so far)

Elaine Hendrix & Alan Bersten

For this one, they will be doing a Foxtrot to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole, dedicated to her best friend and “The Parent Trap” co-star, Lisa Ann Walter (Chessy). She can’t imagine navigating life without Lisa, and this is about celebrating female friendships.

First of all, Lisa can dance! This was such a good performance, and they all shone together. This was fun to watch, and I loved it.

Judges’ Feedback: Carrie Ann said this was amazing and what a wonderful way to celebrate friendship. Derek said Elaine, you are an absolute joy to watch. Kym said that made her heart happy, and they had beautiful movement across the floor. Bruno said they were having a very good time, pure glamour.

Judges’ Scores: 30 out of 40

Whitney Leavitt & Mark Ballas

For this dance, they’ll be doing a Contemporary to “Heal” by Jamal Roberts, dedicated to her husband, Connor. She said he has done a lot for her to pursue her dreams. To be honest, are Mark and Connor brothers?

While the dance was good and they performed it well, I feel we are going to compare these contemporary routines to Robert & Witney’s performance. I want that emotion in this one, and just didn’t get that.

Judges’ Feedback: Derek said dancing is so healing, and that was so beautiful to watch her share that with her husband. Kym said she is so special, and she owns the floor. Bruno said it was literally breathless. Carrie Ann said Whitney that was amazing, but you were out of sync.

Judges’ Scores: 33 out of 40

Jen Affleck & Jan Ravnik on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ 2025

This is all about motherhood for Jen tonight on “Dancing With the Stars” season 34. They will be performing a Viennese Waltz to “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle, dedicated to her mother, Maria. Jan said this is a good style to show the emotion and how much Jen’s mom means to her.

I feel this was a very good performance. It showed off some good emotion, and they had some strong dance moves too.

Judges’ Feedback: Kym said it was beautiful to see. Bruno said she has to continue the flow through the movement. Carrie Ann said that was the most passionate dance she has performed all season. Derek said it was graceful and beautiful, and it was a moment for them.

Judges’ Scores: 29 out of 40

Dylan Efron & Daniella Karagach on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

For this performance, they are doing a Contemporary to “Rewrite the Stars” by Zac Efron & Zendaya, dedicated to his little sister, Olivia. Daniella is hoping his confidence will come out more with his little sister there, and he will relax.

The little sister and the song from his brother. I mean, how cute is his little sister? I think Dylan was more relaxed, and this was a good performance from him. He was freer, and I liked it.

Judges’ Feedback: Bruno said a fantastic number, and he gets better and better and better. Carrie Ann said she felt that story and the message of this performance were incredible. Derek said he hates him (then listed all amazing qualities). Kym said Daniella is incredible and teaching Dylan every week, and he’s doing it.

Judges’ Scores: 36 out of 40 (top score of the season)

Jordan Chiles & Ezra Sosa

For this performance, they are performing a Viennese Waltz to “Daughters” by John Mayer, dedicated to her father, Timothy. Her dad is the one who decided to put her in gymnastics. Ezra didn’t have a father figure growing up, so Timothy is doing that for Ezra with this performance.

I mean, how cute to see her dad watch her perform for this one? He loves her so much, and it shows in this performance. It was a very good performance, and the emotions were coming out.

Judges’ Feedback: Carrie Ann said she is blossoming into something spectacular. Derek said watching them dance made him excited to have his own moment with his own child. There was a tenderness, and it was simple. Kym said it doesn’t get much better than a father-daughter dance, and she is a beautiful dancer. Bruno said elegance, style, and pose. She gets better and better; her musicality improves every week.

Judges’ Scores: 32 out of 40

Scott Hoying & Rylee Arnold

For this performance, they will perform a Foxtrot to “Parallel” by Scott Hoying, dedicated to his husband, Mark. They also announced they will become fathers, as their surrogate is pregnant! This song Scott wrote for his husband.

The other ones, I am feeling the emotions, but I am missing that on this one. It’s lacking something for me.

Judges’ Feedback: Derek said this was beautiful, and I saw the effort and commitment. Kym said the frame was great. Bruno said it was a true love foxtrot, and he was much more at ease with it. Carrie Ann said it felt disjointed to her, and watch Riley more in rehearsals and watch the lines.

Judges’ Scores: 30 out of 40 (their best score of the season)

Danielle Fishel & Pasha Pahkov on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

They will be performing a Jive to “Boy Meets World” by Twenty Cent Crush featuring Phil Rosenthal, dedicated to “Boy Meets World” co-star Bill Daniels (Mr. Feeny). Danielle said she would not be the professional she is today without having Bill to look to every day.

I mean, to have Mr. Feeny on that stage. That’s a win on its own, right? The jive is energetic, and I feel Pasha was showing that energy, but Danielle seemed to be lacking in it at times.

Judges’ Feedback: Kym said there was so much jive content in there, but wanted more attack in her extensions. Bruno said it was such a wonderful number, and she is a great performer. Carrie Ann said some of the dances make me feel like I am watching the same dance over and over again. Derek said it was lively and light, and it was a proper jive.

Judges’ Scores: 29 out of 40

Alix Earle & Val Chmerkovskiy

For their performance, they will perform a Contemporary to “Sparks” by Coldplay, dedicated to her younger sister Izabel. Another little sister is making her way to the dancefloor tonight on “Dancing With the Stars” 2025.

The contemporary is such a good way to show those emotions, so it makes sense that so many of these routines are tonight. This was a strong performance, and I think Alix had some strong moves tonight.

Judges’ Feedback: Bruno said this routine was so difficult, technically, and she made it look so easy. Carrie Ann said watch your arms when you turn, but it was amazing. Derek said she has such maturity in her movements. Kym said she had a different kind of freedom with this routine.

Judges’ Scores: 35 out of 40
