Mark Ballas, 3-time winner of “Dancing With the Stars,” crossed paths with Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders standout Reece Weaver, and they seized the moment to perform a fun dance for social media incorporating both hip-hop styles and ballroom-inspired moves.
Reece, 24, shot to Netflix fame in the summer of 2024 with the premiere of “America’s Sweethearts,” a docuseries capturing the behind-the-scenes highs and heartbreak of the iconic cheerleaders. Reece, whose rookie season on the team coincided with the popular series’ debut, and her standout charisma instantly made her a fan-favorite.
Before the team moved to Netflix, they starred in the annual summertime CMT mini-series “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.”
Reece and Mark captioned their joint video, “When you make a new friend in the hall at work.” The brunette beauty repped the Dallas Cowboys on her gray t-shirt which she paired with black sweats.
A fan cleverly commented, “Ballas Cowboys,” which the pro called an “elite comment.”
Another fan complimented Reece’s captivating style, exclaiming, “Normally I can’t take my eyes off mark, Reece you steal the spotlight ma’am!”
Why Did Reece Leave DCC?
In season 3 of America’s Sweethearts, the cameras revealed Reece’s decision to retire from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders after 3 years on the squad.
When sharing her decision with the squad’s director Kelli Finglass and choreographer Judy Trammell, the University of Alabama grad said “my cup is so full” and that she knows her decision to move on will allow another girl to fulfill her dreams.
In a June 25 interview with E! News, Reece explained, “I’ve been kind of resting with this decision all throughout this past year. And a lot of it came from just having a heart full of gratitude.” She continued, “We talk a lot of season 3 about some challenges that we all faced within social media.” She also cited “the natural pressures that we place on ourselves because we set the bar so high.”
She then revealed when exactly the decision became clear to her, sharing, “I would say at the beginning of March, I really felt at peace that I was supposed to take a leap of faith and just trust that. You know, I might not know what’s in store the next 3 months of so down the road, but I really felt at peace and so full of gratitude.”
Reece also said she’s currently working on a book, which was one of her top 3 goals she set for herself at the end of high school. The other two were making the DCC, and auditioning for Broadway. She says the book will be aimed at providing “mentorship” to the next generation of young women with a focus on finding purpose and identity.
Is Reece Weaver Going On Broadway?
The week of August 10, Reece announced she’s been cast as Roxie Hart in Chicago the Musical on Broadway. “Turning in the boots for Broadway,” she declared.
She said making the announcement “doesn’t even feel real,” and called her casting “the greatest honor and privilege.” She went on, “One of my biggest dreams a performer was to one day be on Broadway and I cannot believe this dream ahs come to fruition. I am incredibly grateful to the cast of Chicago and @castingbyarc for believing in me.”
