Robert Irwin Look-Alike Contest Goes Viral After His Return to Australia

Crikey! Do you or someone you know resemble “Dancing With the Stars” champion Robert Irwin? Now’s your time to shine!

Robert Irwin Look-Alike Contest Goes Viral

The Robert Irwin craze is here to stay, it seems. The conservationist and his Mirrorball Trophy are getting the warmest welcome home: Hundreds of Australians who look just like him.

“Crikey! Who could that be? 👀 🐊” Visit Sunshine Coast shared via Instagram ahead of the event. “If you can rock the khaki and channel the best kind of Aussie energy, come along for a Robert Irwin lookalike contest to welcome our Sunshine Coast icon back home from his travels.”

The event is scheduled to take place Saturday, January 17, at 8:00 am local time at Kings Beach. A $500 cash prize is in store for the winner. No pre-registration is necessary; simply show up in your best conservationist attire and prepare to woo the crowd!

While Irwin has no official involvement in the event, fans have noted that the location is just “a stone’s throw away” from Australia Zoo.

“The most Aussie competition ever 😂👏🏻” one fan reacted to the exciting news.

“This will only be complete if Robert himself enters (and even funnier if he loses),” another laughed.

Others were excited to enter their young sons, with one fan claiming, “I have a son that is Robert bowl cut era, jumps ‘crocs’ and all 😂🐊🥰”

A Look Back to Glen Powell’s Look-Alike Contest

Despite Irwin not being officially part in the contest, fans are keeping their fingers crossed that he pulls a Glen Powell and gets involved.

In November 2024, hundreds of contestants entered a contest to see who most resembled the “Anyone But You” star.

The Austin, Texas, event (Powell’s hometown) offered a whopping $5 cash prize, a brand new cowboy hat and a year’s supply of queso. However, the “Chad Powers” star reached out to event coordinators, offering to sweeten the prize.

“I know there is some cash and a hat at stake here, but I just wanted to say that the winner of today’s contest gets a personal prize from me,” Powell said, according to Fox 7 Austin. “Now, you may know that my parents make a cameo in every movie I make, but today, the winner of the Glen Powell lookalike contest wins their parents or any family member of their choice a cameo in my next movie.”

When physician’s assistant Maxwell Braunstein was crowded Glen Powell 2.0, he said, “My face hasn’t hurt like this since I was ten and at Disney World.”
