Australian conservationist Robert Irwin is dedicating his week 5 “Dancing With the Stars” performance to his mom, Terri Irwin. Ahead of his performance, Irwin shared a touching tribute to his mother, and fans offered up words of support and love.
Robert Irwin Is Honoring His Mom During ‘DWTS’ Dedication Night
On October 14, Irwin took to Instagram to share some sweet photos of his mom, Terri, sister Bindi, and father, the late Steve Irwin.
“Tonight I dance for my mum, the strongest person I know. My mum and dad created a legacy that I’m proud to continue,” he wrote in the caption.
Irwin added, “I hope I can use this dance to share what she means to me, to our family, and to say thank you for always supporting me through life’s ups and downs. See you tonight.”
Irwin and his partner, Witney Carson, will perform a contemporary dance to “You’ll Be in My Heart” by Phil Collins.
On October 13, Irwin shared a look at his preparation for the “Dancing With the Stars” performance.
“It has been an emotional week in rehearsals. I’ve been thinking a lot about my mum and her strength, I’ve been reminiscing on the times we’ve spent as a family and how she has kept my dad part of my life,” he wrote in the caption.
Irwin added, “This dance is for my mum, it’s for anyone who’s lost someone … and it’s for all the strong mothers of the world who deserve our recognition and appreciation.”
His mom commented, “I love you forever and always. Together we are strong. 💕”
Carson wrote, “So proud of you.”
Irwin’s Dance Dedication Has Fans Feeling Emotional
Fans flooded his October 14 Instagram post with comments about his emotional performance, with many cheering him on.
