Robert Irwin is already bringing plenty of laughs to the “Dancing With the Stars” ballroom, even before Season 34 kicks off.
The 21-year-old wildlife conservationist recently shared a hilarious Instagram video where he put his pro partner, Witney Carson, to the test on Australian slang, leaving fans in stitches over her guesses and his spot-on American accent.
‘What a Ripper!’
Irwin posted the video on Sunday, September 7, with the caption, “Putting @witneycarson’s Aussie knowledge to the test! What a ripper! 😂”
In the video, Irwin gives Carson, 31, some type of Aussie slang term. Carson then has to guess what that slang term means.
“Now, we’ve been doing rehearsals for like what, a week?” Robert said to Witney. “You would know that I have a lot of Australian slang that I come out with. I thought today we would test your knowledge.”
A ‘DWTS’ Fail
While Carson has had success in the ‘DWTS’ ballroom, she definitely wasn’t having any success with this Aussie slang challenge.
The first word was “arvo,” which she guessed meant “cool.” Irwin laughed as he revealed it means “afternoon.”
Next up is “dunny,” which Witney guessed meant “done.” However, Robert Irwin revealed that it meant “toilet.” She did get one correct, finally, when guessing that “fair dinkum” meant “that’s true.”
The wrong guesses continued, as “chuck a Uey” does not mean throw a frisbee, like Carson thought. Instead, it means “do a U-turn.” She also missed “ute” being a pickup truck, but was correct in saying that “ripper” means cool.
In Australian slang, “cactus” means something that isn’t working, which Witney got wrong.
She did finish strong, as she correctly explained the meaning of “true blue.” Carson said, “Like, you’re a true friend, you’re a true guy, you’re a true person.”
Video Leaves ‘DWTS’ Fans Cracking Up
After Irwin shared the video with his followers, they were cracking up after the lesson in Aussie culture. Many of his followers got a kick out of Robert saying “arvo” with an American accent.
One follower said, “Hearing Robert imitate an American accent has me cracking up!! 😂.”
Another person asked, “Can we please have more of Robert talking with an American accent??😂😂😂🙌🏻.”
Someone else added, “Ok but his mocking American accent is on point tho.”
It seems like “Bluey” helped a lot of his followers out. One person said, “My 7 yo knew ‘dunny’ because he learned it from bluey 🤣,” and another added, “As the mom of a Bluey obsessed 4yo, I’m proud of myself. 😂”
Of course, fans were quick to show their love and predictions for this season 34 couple. One fan said, “Oh they are SO winning this 🔥,” and another follower said, “I’m rooting and voting for them all the way!!!”
“Dancing With the Stars” season 34 premieres on Tuesday, September 16 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
