Whitney Leavitt Reveals the 1 Rule Keeping Her Marriage Strong

Dancing with the Stars” alum Whitney Leavitt is in a major moment professionally, but she says the foundation at home is what makes it all possible.

The “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” breakout star is preparing for her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in “Chicago,” set to begin Feb. 2, while also juggling motherhood, reality TV and continued filming commitments. Amid the whirlwind, Leavitt says her marriage to husband Conner Leavitt remains steady thanks to intention, communication and showing up for each other.

In a recent interview with People, Leavitt credited her husband for being her anchor during this fast-paced chapter. While she has been spending extended time in New York City rehearsing, Conner has been handling life at home with their three children, all while making sure she stays grounded and supported.

“He’s been holding down the fort,” Leavitt said, adding that he has taken on the day-to-day responsibilities while also prioritizing her well-being during an intense rehearsal schedule.

Making Time Even When Life Gets Busy

With her schedule filling up quickly, Leavitt says the couple relies on one simple rule to stay connected: they intentionally make time for each other.

Despite long days in rehearsals, the pair still carve out moments together whenever possible. While in New York, they even managed a date night at “Masquerade,” the immersive off-Broadway adaptation of “The Phantom of the Opera,” proving that connection does not disappear just because life gets hectic.

Leavitt emphasized that these moments are essential, especially as her career continues to expand. In addition to her Broadway run, filming is underway for season four of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” She also revealed that the upcoming season will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at her time on “Dancing With the Stars,” where she competed as a semifinalist during season 34.

“People are going to be able to see behind the scenes of my ‘Dancing With the Stars’ journey,” she shared.

A Relationship Built on Growth and Transparency

Whitney and Conner, who married in 2016 after meeting on a double date, have never shied away from being open about their relationship challenges. Their marriage has played out publicly on “Mormon Wives,” including moments of vulnerability that showed the work required to rebuild trust and strengthen their partnership.

According to earlier reporting by Us Weekly, the couple sought marriage counseling after facing significant hurdles, a step Leavitt has said helped them grow closer. Over the years, they have welcomed three children and navigated public scrutiny, career shifts and deeply personal conversations together.

Leavitt has consistently described their relationship as stronger on the other side of those challenges, rooted in honesty and mutual support. As her professional life reaches new heights, she makes it clear that her success is tied directly to the partnership she shares with Conner.

“I couldn’t be doing any of this if it wasn’t for him,” she said, per People.
