‘Euphoria’ Cast Pays Emotional Tribute to Co-Star Eric Dane After His Passing

Eric Dane’s sudden passing at 53 has sent shockwaves through Hollywood and beyond. The actor, best known for his work on “Grey’s Anatomy” and HBO’s “Euphoria,” passed away on February 19 after living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS, as reported by People.

He had already finished filming Season 3 of “Euphoria,” which is expected to premiere this spring, according to People. The upcoming season will now mark his final screen appearance.

Sydney Sweeney was among the first to publicly honor Eric Dane.

The actress, who plays Cassie Howard on “Euphoria,” shared a tribute on Instagram Stories, reposting a clip from Dane’s final video message to his daughters featured in Netflix’s “Famous Last Words.”

Throughout the video, she wrote, “Forever will love you,” and added a red heart emoji.

Barbie Ferreira, who portrayed Kat Hernandez on the HBO drama, also reshared the same clip on her Instagram Stories. She placed a simple white heart emoji over the post, allowing the emotional moment to stand on its own.

Show creator Sam Levinson released a statement reflecting on his loss. As per Variety, He said he was “heartbroken” over the passing of our dear friend.”

“Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift,” he continued. “Eric’s family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing.”

HBO also released a statement following the news.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of Eric Dane’s passing. He was incredibly talented, and HBO was fortunate to have worked with him on three seasons of ‘Euphoria.’ Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Dane’s family confirmed that he passed away after what they described as a courageous battle with ALS.

“He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife [Rebecca Gayheart], and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” the statement read, as published by People.

They shared that throughout his illness, he used his voice to help others.

“Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.”

The family also noted that the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum “adored his fans” and “is forever grateful” for the love and support he’s received. They asked for privacy as they move through what they called an “impossible time.”
