Jodie Sweetin Among Stars Supporting Andrea Barber Through Heartbreaking Loss

Longtime Hallmark actress Jodie Sweetin is among the famous friends helping Andrea Barber, her former “Full House” co-star and current podcast co-host, as she grieves the death of her 18-year-old dog, Holly.

In a heartbreaking post on September 21, 2025, Barber — best known for her role as Kimmy Gibler on “Full House” and “Fuller House” — shared that she rescued six-year-old Holly while navigating her 2014 divorce and now feels “unmoored, like I have lost a piece of my soul.”

“Holly came into my life at a time I needed her most,” Barber wrote. “I was going through a painful divorce, lonely on the days without my kids. At an adoption event, Holly walked right up, stood on her hind legs and put her paws on my lap. She chose me.”

Andrea Barber Says Her Dog ‘Filled a Void & Brought Me Immeasurable Joy’

Barber, who co-hosts the popular “How Rude, Tanneritos!” rewatch podcast with Sweetin, posted two photos of Holly — including one of her holding the pup — and wrote that when she rescued her, she’d been “abused as a backyard breeder dog.”

Barber explained, “She had never walked on a leash. She had never played with toys. She was underweight from needing to fight the other dogs for food. I didn’t realize I wasn’t just giving her a home; I was giving her a second life. She would go on to live until age 18 with me by her side. She had finally found a family and real love.”

The actress shared that her dog “got me through monumental times in my life” including her mom’s death in 2021, writing, “She filled a void and brought me immeasurable joy. The simplicity of her love taught me what really matters.”

“With the help of incredible doctors,” Barber shared, her family was able to manage Holly’s heart and liver issues in the last two years of her life, noting that “she was strong and happy…until she wasn’t.”

“To care for Holly at the end of her life was an honor,” Barber wrote. “I held her when she fussed, stroked her fur, told her I loved her in every possible way. It’s heartbreaking to watch someone you love decline. But despite the sadness, it’s a deeply cherished time. Your world grows small, the noise quiets. All that’s left is love.”

“At the end, I laid nose to nose with her, looking into her sweet eyes,” Barber told her followers. “I sang her song and thanked her for being the best girl. Her soul left her broken body and she was finally at peace.”

Now, Barber wrote, her house “feels unbearably empty,” adding, “I feel unmoored, like I have lost a piece of my soul. How do I get through the greatest pain without my greatest comfort?”
