Live Recap of ‘Caught by Love’ Premiere

Catch up on our live updates from “Caught by Love” when it premiered on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, January 24, 2026:

Annie arrives at the hotel in a stunning red dress. She takes her sunglasses off, in awe of the view. She heads inside to the hotel lobby, but she accidentally trips. Jake is introduced as he helps her gather her things from the ground. The two part, but before Jake walks away, he notices the initials “JM” on Annie’s luggage.

Annie goes to check in under the name “Joanna Mitchum.” A staff member shows Annie outside to give her a tour of the hotel, claiming that sometimes people just need “a new perspective” while on vacation.

We’re introduced to a few guests: Kim, an influencer, as she shows off the pool to her followers. A couple sitting by the pool arguing as the husband can’t stop going on his phone. Another man jumps into the pool. Another woman complains to a staff member at the pool that the chlorine is too strong for her.

Annie is shown to her room. She has a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. She’s given an itinerary for her week long stay. She’s told that Robert Carlyle, the owner of the hotel, will be there at the welcome dinner.

Annie makes a phone call to her friend Joanna, where she relays how her trip has been going so far. It’s revealed that she was able to take Joanna’s reservation since Joanna couldn’t make it on the trip. Annie also took Joanna’s luggage and her clothes on this trip. Joanna tells Annie when she stayed at the hotel that she left with a sense of clarity, and she deserves to have the same thing happen to her after everything she’s done.

Later, at the welcome dinner, Robert is speaking to the guests. He says that their stay will be “a truly transformational experience.” He hopes that everyone leaves the resort with a renewed sense of purpose. Then he thanks everybody.

Annie is sat at a table with influencer Kim. When Annie tries to order coffee from the waitress, the only beverages they have to offer are detox related. Annie tells Kim this is the first vacation she’s had in a while. Kim tells her she’s been wanting to come to the hotel for years. She also catches Annie staring at Jake at another table. Kim encourages Annie to go say “hello” to him, but Annie tells her that she’s here to work on herself, not look for romance. Kim argues she can do both.

Meanwhile at Jake’s table, the couple from the pool is there along with the woman who was complaining about the pool’s chlorine levels. She’s wearing a necklace that he keeps eyeing.

Later, Annie finds Jake outside taking photos of birds. She goes up to him and gives him advice on the lens he’s using. She admits that her mom was a photographer, so she picked up a few things. Jake thanks her for the tip, then he takes a photo of her. Jake insists that it’s a great picture despite Annie’s protests. When Jake thinks that Annie isn’t looking, he starts taking photos of the guests down at the beach.

Back at her room, Annie discovers she’s next door neighbors with the couple from earlier. He’s on the phone with someone again. When his wife joins him outside, they introduce themselves as Caroline and Peter.

Jake is back in his room, and the staff member from the pool is there, too. Her name is Laura. Turns out, they’re both undercover and working together. Jake thinks that Annie is Joanna Mitchum because of the initials on her luggage. The two go over the guests: Rebecca, with the necklace, is royalty, Colin, who jumped in the pool, is from silicone valley, Kimberly is a popular influencer, Peter is a real estate mogul, and his wife is a philanthropist. It’s also their anniversary.

In the newspaper, it reveals that there was a museum break-in and there’s a reward for the necklace stolen. They have six days to figure out who the buyer of the necklace they’re looking for is.

The next day, they’re all about to go on a bike riding excursion. Jake goes up to Annie to talk to her, admitting it’s been a while since he’s biked. The group begin sight seeing. Annie helps Colin fix his bike. Jake is impressed by her skills. He hears Colin call her Annie. So, they officially introduce themselves. He asks about the initials on her luggage, so Annie admits that the luggage is her friend Joanna’s, as well as her reservation. Jake makes it his mission to find out who Annie Collins is.

Annie explains that she knows everyone in the group, as she uses memory games to remember everyone’s name.

Later, Jake is speaking to Laura. They were able to find out everything on Joanna, like the fact that she’s a CEO of a cosmetic company. So, they think maybe Annie is doing her “dirty work.”

Meanwhile, Annie is at another session. She’s trying to do aerial yoga. Kim notices that she’s struggling, so they go to get a healthy beverage by the pool instead. Kim gets a text message that Annie notices she’s troubled by. Jake interrupts them and asks Annie to lunch. Kim answers yes for her.

While at lunch, Jake notices her expensive watch, which surprises Annie, as it’s Joanna’s. Annie tells Jake that Joanna came to the hotel two years prior and it was life changing, which makes Jake ask if Annie wants to change her life, but Annie doesn’t answer. Jake asks what Annie does for work, and she answers that she’s in finance, too. But Annie doesn’t want to be defined by her job, so she asks Jake what he likes to do instead, and he tells her he likes to collect stamps. Annie leaves lunch in a rush because she has to get to her next session.

Annie is in her next session. While she’s trying to relax, the teacher tells Annie she needs to write a list of everything she wants to accomplish. It’s time to leave the old Annie behind.

Meanwhile, Jake found Annie’s Instagram account with Laura. She thinks that maybe Annie really is just on vacation. Their conversation is interrupted when Laura is told by her superior that she has to teach the next class.

Annie is with Kim again. Annie explains that she just got out of a relationship where she was trying to force a collection. She wants a genuine connection. Laura arrives. She’s teaching the “herbal medicine” class, but she has no idea what she’s doing.

Annie is outside. She starts talking to Caroline, who tells her she’s been here before. Caroline explains that when she came last, she was on a girl’s trip. She was paired with Peter during one of the outings at the hotel. When she met him, he was spontaneous and full of life. Retelling this story seems to make her sad. She goes back inside the hotel room, leaving her sunglasses outside.

Caroline and Peter are at the pool. He’s distracted by his phone again.

Jake is on his way to room 17, which is Caroline and Peter’s room. Annie catches him walking into the room.

Jake is busy searching the room. Annie walks into the room and confronts Jake searching through someone else’s room. Jake admits he’s a PI trying to track down a necklace stolen from the Met, and he believes one of the guests is here to buy it. He realizes that Caroline is on her way back, so he takes Annie outside to keep talking to her. Now, Annie thinks Jake was only speaking to her because he thought she was a jewel thief. Annie and Jake make it back to her balcony before Caroline gets outside. Annie promises Jake she won’t tell anyone before he leaves.

Later, when Annie is at aerial yoga again, she finds the article about the stolen necklace, and she realizes that Jake is right.

Meanwhile, Jake is at the pool listening to Colin on the phone. He hears him on the phone talking about a plan he has. Annie shows up and continues her conversation with Jake about the necklace. He admits “we” got an anonymous tip about the guest, and he reveals that Laura is actually working with him. They got a note signed by an “X.” Jake tells Annie he doesn’t need anyone interfering with his investigation. They run into Caroline, who invites her and Jake to go into town as a double date. Jake asks Annie for her help and wants her to accept the invitation, so she does.

Jake tries to talk to Peter and asks about what kind of watch he’s wearing. Peter just replies “expensive.” Caroline and Annie are in a jewelry store. Caroline comments on the fact that Peter has been on his phone the whole vacation. He suggested this trip, and Caroline thought it was to reconnect, but Peter’s mind has been somewhere else entirely, so she’s confused why he brought them there.

Now Jake needs to figure out who Peter has been on the phone with the whole time. Caroline asks Jake to take a photo of her and Peter. So, Peter has to hand Jake his phone for them to pose. While pretending to take a photo of them on Peter’s phone, he scrolls through the phone. He finds a message from someone confirming a meeting the following day.

Later, Annie finds Jake swimming in the pool. He says it helps him clear his head. Annie joins him. Jake thanks Annie for her help that day. She feels bad for Caroline, since she doesn’t seem to know what they’re really doing there. Jake disagrees. Annie calls him out for assuming the worst in people, which he blames on his line of work. Annie thinks that someday someone is going to surprise Jake, and he tells her “I hope so.”

Jake shows up to Annie’s room even later that night with a box of pizza, as they haven’t had any unhealthy food since being there. They eat together. She asks how Jake knew Caroline was going to ask to take their photo. He tells Annie his observations about her, like she’s sentimental. He claims to be good at reading people since he has 15 years of experience. So, Annie asks Jake to “read” her, too. Jake clocks that Annie is at a crossroads. He notices she feels out of her element, she’s a rule follower, she’s a planner, which makes him think that something in her life took her off her plane. He also calls her clever and knows she likes helping people. He rightfully guesses she wanted to be a lawyer. Annie tells him it didn’t happen because her mom got sick, so she took a job at a local bank and got comfortable. Annie can’t help but wonder if she’s where she’s supposed to be, so that’s why she went on this trip. Jake observes that Annie is stronger than she gives herself credit for, and he tells her he likes her just the way she is.

The next day, Annie and Jake show up to the meeting Peter was supposed to be at. Annie asks Jake why he wanted to be a PI. He was on the police force for a decade, but then he decided he wanted to work a case on his own. When he solved the case and made his client happy, he knew he wanted to do that going forward. To solve this case, Jake tells Annie he just needs to get the right photos then send it to the proper authorities. Annie asks what Jake is going to do after he gets the photos. He tells her he’s going to leave, but hopefully they can go out and celebrate first.

Jake and Annie spot Caroline show up to the meeting spot without Peter. At first, they think maybe she’s the one behind it. Turns out, Peter was setting all of this up to surprise Caroline with a sweet romantic gesture. This is why Peter was so distracted.

This means, they still don’t know who the buyer is.

Jake admits to Annie that owning his own PI business is expensive, and Laura left an important career because she believed in him, but he’s not sure how much longer he can keep them afloat. Therefore, he needs this case to work out. Annie tells Jake he wants to help them, for the greater good. She plans to just talk to the guests without taking any unnecessary risks. This makes Annie and Jake officially a team.

Later, Robert is hosting another dinner. Every guest stands up at the front with him in front of everyone else and says what they want to achieve. When Annie says she wants a house, Robert calls her out on this and asks if this is what she really wants. He tells her to give it another shot. Annie goes back to her seat.

After dinner, Annie follows Rebecca and hides behind the bushes to spy on her. While Kim is walking by, she notices Annie hiding in the bushes.

Laura disagrees with letting Annie help them, but Jake claims that she’ll be useful. They need every set of eyes they can get.

Annie and Jake are at the pool together watching another guest, Mr. Evers. Laura is there with them folding towels as she continues to pretend to be a staff member. Annie finds out that Jake and Laura used to be partners on the police force. He also admits that he’s single. While Jake and Laura are discussing how to get more information, Annie goes to talk to Mr. Evers herself. She finds out more information about him after their conversation. Even Laura is impressed.

The next excursion is rock climbing. Jake encourages Annie to do it, despite being scared. Annie notices Kim distraught by another text. It’s her boyfriend, who’s stuck in London because of weather. Annie speaks to Robert. She asks his advice on how to figure out what she really wants. He believes she’ll never be able to move forward if she’s being controlled by fear. Annie decides to go rock climbing after all. Jake is at the top of the rock cheering her on along with the other guests. She makes it to the top after grabbing Jake’s hand. They hug. She’s in awe of herself.

Rebecca goes up to Annie. She tells her that her and Jake are the talk of the resort because everyone loves a good love story. But Rebecca is worried that Annie is getting caught up in something that isn’t real since they’re on vacation, and she warns Annie that it’s very easy to “lose your heart if you’re not careful.”

After rock climbing, Jake gives Annie white a rose from one of the tables. She tells him how much it meant to have him up there cheering her on, and Jake tells her she’s easy to root for. They wish each other a good night.

When Annie gets back to her balcony with her rose, Caroline is out on her own balcony. Annie is afraid that the feelings she has for Jake isn’t real because they’re on vacation. But Caroline asks Annie if she wants this to be real. Annie does. Caroline encourages her to tell Jake, then.

The next day, Annie overhears Colin speaking to someone on the phone. She tries to call Jake, but he’s too busy in aerial yoga to hear her phone call. So, Annie goes to follow Colin by herself. He’s heading to a yacht. She runs after him. She catches him shaking hands with someone and thanking them. Annie takes a photo of them on the boat.

Jake finally gets Annie’s texts and sees that she’s going on the boat by herself. So, he rushes out of yoga.

Annie overhears Colin telling the man he’s meeting that he’ll wire him the money. But Annie’s phone rings while she’s on the dock listening to their conversation, giving her away.

The boat is leaving, forcing Jake to swim after it. When he joins Annie aboard, it turns out that Colin just bought that boat.

When they’re back on land, Jake is lecturing Annie that he told her not to take risks. He was scared she could’ve been hurt. He regrets dragging her into this. So, he tells Annie to go back to the resort because he doesn’t need her help anymore.

Annie gets back to the hotel and finds Joanna in the lobby. She wanted to spend the last couple of days she had together.

Later, after Annie fills Joanna in on everything, Annie admits she’d like to reapply to law school, but she’s afraid of going backwards. Joanna tells Annie that she wanted her to take the time to figure out what made her happy, and if going back to school does that, then she wants her to go for it.

The next day, Jake finds Annie practicing aerial yoga all by herself. She finally figures it out.

Jake and Laura discuss their plan. This is their last shot to figure out who the buyer is. There’s an event with all the guests. Laura is working the party while Jake is in attendance. Annie brings Joanna to the event, too. Robert gives another speech to the guests. He thanks them and toasts to life being too short to not going after what you want.

Kim gets a text that makes her happy. She runs away. Jake notices this, so him and Annie go after her.

Annie and Jake find that Kim was meeting her boyfriend, who just showed up with a case. Jake looks inside the case. It’s just camera equipment for Kim’s vlogs.

Jake goes back to his room and looks through his photos to see if he missed anything. He realizes that Robert was in the background of every photo.

Back at the party, Robert excuses himself for a meeting.

Jake and Annie both figure out that it’s him. They follow Robert and find him buying the necklace, so Jake takes the photos he needs. But they’re caught and brought to Robert, who discovers the photos. Jake takes the stolen necklace in the case and runs away with it until the feds show up. Turns out, Mr. Evens is a federal agent. Robert gets arrested by them.

Back at the party later that evening, Jake asks Annie to dance. Jake apologizes to Annie for the other night and tells her he couldn’t have done this without her.

The party breaks up as everyone finds out what happened with Robert. They also discover that Rebecca is Robert’s ex-girlfriend.

Jake and Annie embrace and share a sweet kiss. He tells Annie he’s going to give her a cut of the reward since she earned it. He tells her how much money she’d be getting, and she’s in shock. He suggests she could use it towards law school tuition.
