DWTS Alum & ‘Fuller House’ Star Juan Pablo Di Pace Is So Grateful After Emergency Surgery: ‘Lucky to Be Here’

Hallmark hunk and former “Fuller House” star Juan Pablo Di Pace is grateful for another day after undergoing emergency surgery to remove his appendix.

On April 15, 2026, the actor and 2018 “Dancing With the Stars” alum posted a selfie taken from his hospital bed, and wrote, “Thank you life for giving me today. A rough few days but. I’m oh, so lucky to be here. And feel loved.”

Several hours after his first Instagram Story, Di Pace shared another photo taken at the hospital, but he let his fans know he’d since been discharged.

“Home now, appendix is out, which is apparently a filter we don’t use since childhood,” he wrote in English and Spanish over the pic, and then quipped, “So, expect me to have less of a filter…I apologize in advance. 😎”

Di Pace then shared a picture taken on the rocky shore of a big body of water and thanked everyone who’d reached out, writing, “Thank you for the messages. You are all so lovely.”

The silver lining to his eventful week? Di Pace also shared Madonna’s surprise post about her new album, “Confessions On the Dance Floor: Part II,” being released in July. He cutely wrote above it, “Though with gifts like these. Who needs health!?”

Juan Pablo Di Pace Also Suffered His 1st Panic Attack in 2025

Di Pace, whose most recent role was in the 2025 Hallmark movie “My Argentine Heart” opposite Julie Gonzalo, has also starred in 2024’s “Branching Out” opposite Sarah Drew and 2021’s “Raise a Glass to Love” with Laura Osnes.

The actor, 46, rose to fame on several hit series, including the reboot of “Dallas,” playing Jesus in the 2015 mini-series “A.D. The Bible Continues,” and in Netflix’s “Full House” reboot, “Fuller House,” from 2016 to 2020. Di Pace reunited with much of the “Fuller House” cast in March to celebrate the birthday of the franchise’s creator, Jeff Franklin (as seen above).

But likely his toughest role to date was in “Before We Forget,” a 2025 movie he also wrote, produced, and starred in. According to Out Magazine, which named Di Pace to its coveted Out100 list in 2025, “Before We Forget” is about an artistic teen at an Italian boarding school who falls in love for the first time. According to the outlet, it was the last film that Hollywood legend Norman Lear executive-produced.

But Di Pace put so much pressure on himself to get everything exactly right that he suffered his first panic attack while making the film, he told Get Out.

“I sympathize with all filmmakers all around the planet now,” he said. “It is like giving birth. LIke having a baby. The baby sometimes needs extra care. Sometimes people will want to sort of take it and do something with your baby, and you have to protect it, no matter what. It is definitely a parental thing. I don’t have any children, so I learned to, in a way, be a dad.”
