Meghan Ory & Benjamin Ayres Star in Hallmark’s ‘A Christmas Angel Match’

Hallmark favorites Meghan Ory and Benjamin Ayres are spreading festive cheer this year with a brand-new holiday movie. The pair will headline “A Christmas Angel Match,” which will premiere as part of the network’s 16th annual “Countdown to Christmas” event.

The film promises all the heartwarming holiday magic fans have come to expect — and yes, it even includes puppies.

Inside the Storyline of ‘A Christmas Angel Match’

In “A Christmas Angel Match,” Ory and Ayres play Christmas angels Monica and Michael, who are tasked with bringing soulmates together before the holiday season ends.

According to the film’s synopsis shared with People, the angels usually work solo, but when the Christmas Connection Department faces downsizing, Monica and Michael are paired to help Daisy and Patrick find love.

The movie balances lighthearted holiday traditions with deeper themes, as Monica is a by-the-book angel while Michael is more spontaneous, delighting in simple earthly joys like hot chocolate and snowball fights. Their differences, paired with the spark growing between them, put their mission at risk.

“As Christmas Eve draws near, Monica and Michael worry their differences will keep them from completing their mission in time. But just when it seems all hope is lost, a surprising turn of events changes everything — leading to a Christmas connection no one saw coming,” the synopsis reads.

Ory, who previously starred in “Once Upon a Time” and “Chesapeake Shores,” also wrote the film.

Puppies, Partnerships, & Holiday Magic

Beyond the romantic storyline, “A Christmas Angel Match” features several Husky puppies that Ory described as “so cute.”

In an exclusive interview with People, she said, “They were like 12 weeks old, and they were really little. One of the people on the crew in catering bought one of them, so we even matched a puppy with a home.”

The project was directed by Christie Will Wolf, who also worked with Ory on “Believe in Christmas” in 2024.

Wolf praised Ory as both a lead actress and producing partner, writing on Instagram, “We speak in shorthand, consistently have the same thought, and spin ideas like records — nonstop and always in rhythm. Making movies is hard. We’re both moms. Being away from our kids isn’t easy. But the kind of storytelling we’re stepping into now… that makes the sacrifice mean something.”

Ayres, known for his roles in multiple Hallmark films including “The Santa Class,” “Santa Tell Me,” and “Happy Holidays from Cherry Lane,” rounds out the cast alongside Ory.

“A Christmas Angel Match” will premiere later this year on Hallmark Channel as part of “Countdown to Christmas.”
