The ‘Happy’s Place’ Stars Have Been Besties for Years
Now, Peterman and McEntire are co-stars on another show. “Happy’s Place” debuted its first season on NBC in 2024 and is currently airing its second season. The ensemble cast of “Happy’s Place” also includes McEntire’s fiance, Rex Linn.
According to NBC, McEntire and Peterman first met in 2001 as “Reba” was just beginning. Peterman played the pregnant mistress, Barbra Jean, of McEntire’s character’s husband. Reba’s on-screen husband, Brock Hart, was played by Christopher Rich.
In 2024, Peterman told Entertainment Tonight that working with McEntire again on “Happy’s Place” was like “coming home.”
She explained, “In this business, we have a lot of ‘Hollywood friends,’ and you have friends you share just the good stuff with, and I think I knew that when we started sharing the real life stuff that it was forever.”
Peterman continued, “I know she’s got my back whether we ever work together again, she is on my side always and she knows I’m [on] hers.”
When McEntire was asked about what Peterman said, she first jokingly told Entertainment Tonight she’d written those words for her friend. More seriously, she added, “I love Melissa, we gelled really quickly during the “Reba” show and went on vacations.”
McEntire shared that when Peterman told her she was pregnant with Riley, it was at McEntire’s 50th birthday party.” She added, “She’s one of my best friends. I will just love her forever and ever.”
