Ryan Paevey Hints at Bold TV Return That Will ‘Stir the Pot’

Ahead of Hallmark alum Ryan Paevey’s return to television, the actor gave fans some fresh teasers about his upcoming role. While he is not heading back to Hallmark at this point, the “Unleashing Mr. Darcy” star is set to return to “General Hospital.”

Paevey’s first scenes air on September 19, and he hinted at some wild developments ahead. He teased, “We’ve got some fun stuff planned. We’re going to stir the pot. I wouldn’t come back for something vanilla. It’s going to be a blast.”

Ryan Paevey Promises His Storyline Will Be a Wild Ride

Paevey talked to TV Insider about his return to “General Hospital” after seven years away. Details regarding Paevey’s return have been sparse, but the actor now reveals a few interesting tidbits.

He noted that his return to the show started with a text exchange with Frank Valentini, the “General Hospital” executive producer. Paevey explained, “He said they had some ideas for a few other characters that were in my orbit and was wondering if I might be willing to come back so they could make some of that arc a little bit richer.”

As “General Hospital” fans know, Paevey’s character, Nathan West, was killed off upon the actor’s departure from the show. He has not confirmed whether or not he is returning to play West or a different character.

However, storylines involving some of West’s loved ones have been heating up, and that seems to have set the stage for whatever storyline Valentini has cooked up.

Paevey noted, “This go-round is definitely going to be wildly different than the last one was.”

The Actor Feels Grateful & Humbled

Paevey noted that before returning to “General Hospital,” it had been two years since he’d been on a film set. He created a quiet life away from acting. “I had no intention, really, of returning, at least not now,” he acknowledged.

Ultimately, Paevey admitted, “My reasons for returning are very pragmatic and meat and potatoes. I’ve always been a survivor.”

He continued, “I keep the lights on for myself and a few other people, so that requires resources, and I have the ability to work. I’m grateful to still have an opportunity here.”

Returning to the “General Hospital” set felt “really, really strange,” Paevey shared. At the same time, he added, “It’s been really nostalgic and really cool.”

The actor was thrilled to cross paths with Finola Hughes and Dominic Zamprogna on his first day back. In addition, he revealed his character will share scenes with West’s sister, Kelly Thiebaud’s Britt Westbourne.

He said he’s “very grateful to still have the opportunity to work alongside people that I love, and that’s largely due to the fans.” Paevey noted, “I am humbled by the support.”
